Perfect Fellow Countryman Okan Bayulgen
asliguruney5 August 2001
Hemso is the fourth movie of Okan Bayulgen, who is the most popular tv star of Turkey since 1995 with his uniqe late-night shows. I watched his first movies just for seeing my fave star on the big screen, but in Hemso, I faced a fabulous actor. In Hemso, Okan Bayulgen plays an eastern Turkish villager, a character that is totally opposite to Bayulgen, a city dweller by birth. However beginning from the very first scene, he portrays the character perfectly, with his amazing accent and attitudes. He never fails during the movie and he easily makes us believe that he is Cebrail, an old-fashioned villager who searches his enemy due to the vandetta, in the big city. He is so lonely, estranged by his family, and he hopelessly falls for a Romanian prostitute, girlfriend of his enemy, knowing that is an impossible relationship. And the rest is an ordinary action movie. I think Hemso is a half success and Okan Bayulgen is obviously the successful part of it.

KEY BAYULGEN MOMENT Cebrail, homesick and hopeless, confesses his impossible love, to a countryman of his, but comparing the girl to the natural beauties of his homeland, like her eyes like the river, etc. Just perfect!
