How well I remember this After School Special. Katy Kurtzman, as younger sister Joss, accidentally fell out of a treehouse and didn't survive.
Clearly as a child, I looked to Melissa Sue Anderson and Sparky Marcus to explain to me what was going on. Apparently, everything was very chaotic as everyone tried to come to grips with what occurred, but it was Anderson sitting on the steps with Marcus at the end that I remember best.
Typical After School Special? Maybe so, but this was one of those programs I would have sworn I must have imagined if I hadn't recalled that it was Mary Ingalls and the little boy from The Bad News Bears tv show and WKRP in Cincinnati and the Freaky Friday movie who appeared in this.
Truthfully, it seemed a bit heavy for a kid, but perhaps that is because I didn't have to experience anything like this as a child.
Still wouldn't mind seeing the After School Specials again somewhere, especially these early ones.
