Stupid Title for a Stupid Movie.

Warning: Spoilers
Ramsays' have been famous for making various horror flicks that did decent business across India. 'Telephone' as the title suggests has nothing much to do with 'Telephone' kind of thing. The movie is full of extras and seems like the residue of an experiment gone horribly wrong.

Suresh (Shatrughan Sinha) is a wealthy business magnet and works with Dinesh (Marc Zuber), who is also his best friend and business partner. It so happens that Suresh finds Dinesh cheating on him and forces him to leave the organization. A vindictive Dinesh swears to avenge the loss of his prestige and starts plotting against Suresh.

Dinesh throws Suresh's typist Rajni (Deepti Naval) out of the window, and with a very intelligent plan, happens to get Suresh arrested for a while, but Suresh due to his flawless character and strong social records is granted bail. Now Suresh wants to handle things on his own. In the meantime we see a girl named Anita (Parveen Babi) going intimate with Suresh but wait, she is here for a reason as she has plans of her own. Dinesh wants to take advantage of this situation and seeks Anita's help. Anita is Rajni's sister and believes that Suresh killed her for a reason. She teams up with Dinesh and together they try to bring Suresh and his business empire down. To make her mission successful, Anita even teams up with Amit (Prem Chopra), who used to be Rajni's ex. However, not everything goes as planned.

The film poses itself as a horror movie, but I see it more like a thriller movie, with obvious culprits. Since everything is as clear as broad daylight, the movie even fails to be a thriller. The title 'Telephone' seems inappropriate as the film has nothing to do with the telephone. There is just one scene where the telephone ring is used as the signal of execution i.e. 'Shoot When The Phone Rings'. Then we have Jagdeep, who has tormented the viewers to the best of his ability with his irritating puerile activities.

I was thinking that Ramsays' had brains during mid 80s, but this flick says something else. Ramsays' were at their best when they made 'Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche', 'Darwaaza', 'Dahshat', 'Hotel' and 'Sannata'. Its just a miracle that they were able to reach the same crest when they came out with 'Veerana' in 1988. I didn't like 'Telephone' because of its cheap and obvious plot, number of extras, and funny dialogs. I won't suggest you to go for it.
