Enigma anime

Not really an action anime. The tales are enigmatic and often (seemingly) unfulfilling. There's a very fatalistic aspect in this anime, but mostly it's not the protagonist. The fatalism comes with just about every other character in each story. What Eat Man does to the viewer is allow interpretation on many different levels. The animation is often fairly sparse, but intriguingly crafted. The music is minimal as well, except for the opening and closing title music. Bolt Crank is a mercenary (explorer) who eats metal and drinks oil, and can produce various weapons from his hand, mostly the right hand, but I think occasionally with the left (?). This fascinating anime leaves conclusions to the viewer. It's really quite unique and melancholy. Eat-Man is set in an alternate universe future. 8 out of 10 stars from me.

One of the best action animes out there... too bad is too short

Yep, I can surely say that this serie is one of the best I have ever seen. Now, for the other fans that probably thing I'm not an otaku, well, I have also watched the next season (Eat-Man 98) and I still prefer the older one... even though the creator had nothing to do with this one, it pretty much doesn't matter. The main reason I prefer the old serie is that Bolt-Crank model looks like a cold youngster in the 98 season, meanwhile on this one (97) he looks like a cool, awesome dude with nerves of steal.

It's a miracle that such a great serie was made with such little budget... unfortunantly, the quality is really poor, as the same with the length of the serie itself (just 8 episodes), but the awesome dialogues and the original idea of creating one mini-novel for each episode really catch you up, wanting to watch each episode.

I give it a A. With all its drawbacks, considering the low budget it's really a master piece. Watch it, you won't regret it.
