Jon Bang Carlsen: Self - Narrator

Quotes

  • Himself - Narrator : But the story never made it to this remote place, it was hijacked somewhere on the road leading from yesterday to tomorrow. And finally these notes became the film. Life is what happens when you're too busy making other plans. And so are films.

  • Himself - Narrator : Looking for a story you have to choose a little corner of reality and just hang on

  • Himself - Narrator : [final lines]  I've come to South Africa to film how a white family in a desolate farm face the new days of equality. But I soon lost my way both on the endless roads and in my mind. Instead the film became a story about two very different women who both experienced a tragic loss in the midst of a community who wasn't too fond of the future. Both women gained strength from overcoming the loss to face tomorrow, though from different angles. Their personal stories reminded me of a possible destiny for the white tribe. By loosing their priviliges they had to allow everybody into their world and could finally relieve themselves of a loneliness which had haunted them since the first bushman was killed by an European bullet. "If you have no love you're going to be cruel" the woman told me long ago. That goes for cultures as well.
