A good look at reality outside of the U.S.
latchkey127 July 2004
This movies speaks volumes about the reality children face in 3rd world countries. Venezuela is one of the wealthiest Latin American countries in the world, yet the homelessness, prostitution, poverty and crime rates are higher/or as hi as any other place on the globe. In this story we follow Oliver.............I youth mistreated and disowned by his mother and alcoholic stepfather. We join Oliver in a journey through the rough streets of Venezuela where the rules are.....there are no rules. Struggling to survive, Oliver must do whatever it takes to survive..........with the dangers of corrupt police, Drug Dealers, Pedophiles and the presence of the never ending hunger he must endure........Oliver faces a life on the streets that wasn't meant for even the lowest of people. A true great film that practically had me in tears. 10/10

Really tough, but well worth watching.

Really tough semi documentary thriller about life in the streets of Caracas. Two stories intermingle: The rise and fall of a drug capo fighting with a younger ruthless rival for the control of his barrio and that of Oliver (a well chosen name!), a child of around 8 or 9 years old, sent off to the street by his mother just to make her newly found husband happy. What follows is unbelievable, yet true. Oliver has to accommodate to his new life, in an extremely harsh world, and ends up literally in the gutter.

Most of the actors are non professional, locations are real, etc. Even so acting is really top notch, as most tech work, and the story is really well filmed.

this movie must be in the top 250

this movie should be in the top 250, since, no Venezuelan movie has been (and let us hope it is), in the top, since our movies show the reality of every day that we live the Venezuelans with regard to the delinquency, especially in the poor areas of Caracas, well-known as "barrios" or "cerros" where the life there is like underworld, in other words, it is ANOTHER WORLD.

Cities so modern as Caracas, always have their dangerous parts, like in New York it is the Bronk, here it is Petare, Catia, Caricuao and many other areas that present great danger for the inhabitants of the region. Here we are invaded of: Indigenous, Vague, criminals, thieves, assassins, drug dealers, prostitutes, etc. in short, and that reality is exporting since this it is not only given here, but in all Latin America. My intention with this comment is that they vote that the movie you of to know more, I rush (not the first stone, but it is a beginning), and I vote 9/10.

P.D. IMDb users, vote for this one, we just only need many votes, go
