Verdict is...Please don't sneeze
ThunderKing616 January 2021
I use to watch this show all the time on YTV. Those days were legendary. The show is a mild horror, comedy show mostly about a purple hulk monster.

Its mainly about the boy who is cursed where if he sneezes he turns into the purple hulk with no clothes. Only a tiny amount of people know about it. Episode to episode they deal with magic and horror like subjects.

Animation for its time was really good. Besides Reboot and another show (I can't remember) it was one of the first major shows to use such type of animation on YTV. Some of the characters behaved corny funny. Voice work has many recognizable actors. Stories were fun. Humor was very fun. The theme Song is legendary.

Verdict: Don't make him sneeze

Dull.

Basically revolving around a boy and his sneezing, this show consists of awful dialogue, animation and the jokes are mostly puns. It lacks emotion. Almost every episode is basically the same.

Don't watch it.

Hardly the best of Canadian animation.

Warning: Spoilers
I remember this show running feverishly on YTV from 1998 to 2006, and when I watched it, I never enjoyed a whole episode. The problems are everywhere; the plots are predictable and formulaic, the characters are poorly-designed and uninteresting, and the animation looks like it was made in the mid-nineties despite the show running into 2006. One of the episodes involved a thief who was in the Patterson house, and the kids' aunt was in love with him, and the episode ended with a three-minute long chase scene.

Plus, the antics of the Monster are irritating to most people who watch it, and only some children under the age of ten are capable of truly enjoying it. I myself found it literally unbearable when I was in 4th grade, as did many of the kids my age. I appreciate the show's effort to jump-start Canadian computer animation, but Monster By Mistake was a painful experience.

Good and Misunderstood

I have read the reviews for this show, and most of them are complaints of the animation. What these people don't realize is that Monster by Mistake is one of the world's first fully CGI animated TV shows, meaning that it ,of course, won't have greatly advanced animation by today's standards. Back in 1996, fully computer animated shows were revolutionary, and these people need to realize that at the time, they didn't have the advanced technology they have today. If it wasn't for shows like Monster by Mistake and Reboot, The US would have not at all or been late to create it's popular CGI shows today, such as Jimmy Neutron and Penguins of Madagascar. Yes show's plot is kind of lame, but this show is not just about a boy sneezing and turning into a monster. It is about a boy who has had this curse put on him by some douche wizard, and he learned to use this curse to help him solve mysteries. This sends a great message of optimism and always trying to make the the best out of a bad situation. This is exactly what the protagonist did.

Simple, but good educational show.

Now I am no longer a kid, but I must admit that I still enjoy watching "Monster by Mistake" almost every day at 9:30am on YTV in Canada. Warren is an 8 year old boy, who after getting in the way of a magic spell, turns into a 7' blue monster every time he sneezes. This "secret" of his gets him and his sister Tracy into all kinds of adventures.

The plot times are fairly simple, but then after all, it is a kids show. The shows are generally educational in nature, because they teach kids some simple things about life. Some of the themes covered have included: sibling rivalry, working together, sharing etc. I kind of like it, because when I was a kid, I always liked fantasy, magic spells and strange lands (like Benrap -- or is it Fenrap?).

I highly recommend it to parents out there, who are looking for some clean family friendly television programming. It's better than most of the shows on YTV, at least, in my opinion.

My toddler loves this fun, action packed show and I don't mind watching it either.

This is an excellent show for small children, especially those who might be a little afraid of ghosts in the attack and monsters under the bed. The action is fun as well as funny and (for someone, like my two-year-old, who doesn't have the experience to know how all action comedy always ends) thrilling and suspenseful. The characters and situations are painted with broad strokes in primary colors (this does not refer to the animation, which is claymation style) so it's probably not something I would pick to watch without the kids. Having said that, this show has a clear, positive moral perspective without being pedantic or tiresome. It's encouraging to those who feel oppressed by a world in which everyone else is bigger and more powerful. It teaches honesty and responsibility as well as compassion and understanding. The dialog can sound a little corny to an adult ear, but I don't think this is carelessness in choosing words, but rather a deliberate (and effective) choice to communicate to an age group upon whom subtlety is largely lost. My son would watch this show all day long if I let him. I rate it a 7 as opposed to an 8 only because I have a sneaking suspicion that the creators thought they were making a show for the age group of the title character when in fact the best audience for this show is much younger.

Great :)

I'm fourteen and I liked this show because of the way they do the animation. It has a different plot than a lot of other kids shows and I definitely recommend watching it. I don't usually watch shows like this, but I really find it interesting the way everything comes together. I read that it takes over two months to make one show, and I think that it would be really hard to create something such as animation. It seems like they kind of slowed down in the third season though, the animation gets a little weird and even though it's still really interesting, it's not as fun to watch as the first two seasons. I still think the overall idea of the show is pretty cool and definitely worth watching.

Warning: Spoilers
I have seen good little kids shows seven little monsters(actually I really like it) is a good show even care bears may be even better than this show. This show is boring cause everybody is so stupid! Barely anybody knows that waren is the monster and the only people who are actually funny are the people who are at least a little smart. All in all a little kid might find this amusing were talking a 4 or 5 year old but if your older than ten you are in for a boring time. Now about it well...it is about a boy who sneezes and turns into a monster. It is suppose to be about him and his sister trying to find a cure for him but instead he runs all over the city helping people and does not even seem to care about being a monster! 2/10 Basicaly another boring little kids show.
