You can already tell by the title what for a kind of movie this is...

The movie its title is in my opinion extremely lame and so is the humor in this movie. It's a very easy and quite unimaginative parody of "Saving Private Ryan". Sure, there are some funny moment but mostly the movie is filled with some, let's say not so subtle humor.

Still this short movie certainly deserves credit. It deserves credit for how it looks. Visually the movie is nicely made and nicely imitates some of the scene's from "Saving Private Ryan".

Unfortunately the movie is quite short. I have a feeling that with a longer running time with some more 'story' in it the movie could had really become interesting and entertaining.

The movie is certainly watchable but only recommendable when you have also seen "Saving Private Ryan". Only then you'll be able to understand the 'jokes'. Still this movie is not must see and it's not exactly the worlds smartest and greatest movie parody around.

6/10

Little parody short that works only partially

Warning: Spoilers
"Saving Ryan's Privates" is an 8-minute (6 without credits) live action movie from the United States that is obviously in the English language. The title is of course an obvious giveaway that this is a spoof of Sopielberg's "Saving Private Ryan". Ryan loses his private parts in here, but the Army do all they can to get them back for him. Man must not be stripped of their privates. As for the director and two writers here, this was the first time for any of them in their respective fields, even if one of the writers has been a prolific actor already long before that. So yeah, back to this movie. The joke is basically the same from start to finish, so even for this brief runtime it gets old pretty quickly. I assume the final scene is a reference to Spielberg's movie. Don't really remember if there was a flash-forward in there. Anyway, this one here is solid for a fan film, but as for general standards, it is not a success. I give this almost 20-year-old movie (1998) a thumbs-down.

Waste of time

When I saw Saving Private Ryan in the theatres, I was really disappointed. So the idea of seeing a spoof interested me. I was really let down. This film is one of the worst shorts I have ever seen. It was overly commercialized and rang true to the sell-out ideals of Scary Movie. Anyone who has any respect for true artistic value will spend their time watching something else.

One of the best (and shortest) parodies ever made.

Craig Moss's "Saving Ryan's Privates" is nothing short of a phenomenon. Finally, a film that doesn't give viewers the shaft. In all seriousness, folks, "Saving Private Ryan" had it coming. It's an awesome movie, but there was just a bit too much seriousness in it, I guess, so this parody is completely deserved. As far as a plot, it's about the same as "Saving Private Ryan," except this time they're not just searching for a soldier; they're looking for his genetalia too. If you do not find phallus-based humor funny, then avoid this at all costs. If you enjoy this kind of stuff, than watch this hilarious masterpiece first chance you get.

I give it 10 out of 10.

Cringingly funny

If you can find a copy, I highly recommend you watch "Saving Ryan's Privates." It's one of those hideously tasteless parodies that you find yourself laughing your ass off.

At about seven minutes long, it relentlessly pounds the viewer with humor, throbbing to the brim with genital-related puns, until the moving, emotional climax.

Not for the weak-stomached! Loved the "Tuskegee Airman" joke.
