The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is one of my favourite shows, and to see three of the episodes of the show on video. Cowboy Pooh is wonderful and yet another of these videos to show the show's many strengths, the childhood innocence, the great writing, the timeless characters and the beautiful animation amongst others.
"The Good, The Bad and The Tigger" is one of the classics of the show for me. Reminiscent of "Paw and Order"(also one of the best episodes) with similar settings and costumes. It is every bit as rollicking and as fun as "Paw and Order" with one of my favourite beginnings of any of the episodes and a classic story. The animation with the Wild West settings is once again beautiful and the music(even using snippets of "Paw and Order") is rousing. Coupled with very funny, often hilarious, writing, great voice acting and the characters including Gopher in two roles on top form, it really is a joy to watch. Just one thing, that jail cell looked as though it was so easy to escape from.
"Rabbit Marks the Spot" is another episode I have a soft spot for, especially for the song at the start. It is so catchy with droll lyrics, and there were some little things in there that I loved like Piglet's hat being bigger than he is. There are some hilarious moments in the dialogue and on screen, such as "Where'd it go?/In the basement/But I don't have a basement!/Ya do now" and Rabbit's priceless expression when he is run over with the boat. The story is innocent and amusing, and while Rabbit is mean in this episode he learns from his mistakes(pretty much the only character that does).
"The Masked Offender" compliments the other two episodes very nicely. The animation and music are once again excellent, the story is nice and simple and the dialogue is funny(thought they were all gonna crash didn't ya?" slams door and the stuff breaks). I also liked the ending very much. Tigger takes centre stage, and I loved this as he is my favourite character. I have to say though I felt sorry for him as he was humiliated by his own friends, and also that he doesn't know that he is turning everything into a catastrophe. At least he found a real danger in order to save his friends.
All in all, a rootin' tootin' classic. 10/10 Bethany Cox
