Sex & Nudity

  • No sex and nudity. Mowgli only wears his pants the entire movie. In a few scenes, Mowgli appears to have an interest in a girl. That's it.

Violence & Gore

  • This list refers to the scenes as they appear in the original 5-part movie series. But beware that some scenes may have been cut, depending on which (foreign) version you are watching:
  • Shere Khan the tiger accidentally lands on a campfire, causing his right forepaw to get hurt.
  • The same tiger will do anything to get his prey, namely Mowgli.
  • Mowgli pinches a golden jackal's nose.
  • Baloo slaps five wolves.
  • Bagheera offers a wolf pack a freshly killed bull, which is never seen.
  • Baloo, and later Bagheera, slap Mowgli's butt as punishment.
  • A large bunch of monkeys kidnap Mowgli, and take him to their city.
  • Mowgli, Bagheera and Baloo get into a fight with the monkeys.
  • We see Shere Khan the tiger has killed a bull, allowing some wild dogs to eat it off-screen.
  • Mowgli gets into a small fight with a cobra, and threatens to cut it's mouth with a knife.
  • Mowgli accidentally cut a wolf's forepaw. Very little blood drips from the wound, until Mowgli licks it clean.
  • Several wolves attempt to catch a deer.
  • Mowgli gets chased by a pack of wild dogs. In one scene, he cuts off one of the wild dogs' tail.
  • Several wild dogs are attacked by bugs.
  • There is a long battle between several animals. Mowgli stabs several wild dogs. Several animals die during the battle. This is the most violent sequence.
  • Several characters discover blood on the river they're drinking from.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The appearance of Shere Khan may be a little bit scary, and might upset some very small children.
  • Some small children may find the appearance of python Kaa to be a bit creepy in a few times.
  • The battle between wild dogs and Mowgli's pack of animals is the most intense part of the entire film.
  • This Soviet cartoon movie has been made for children. Depending on how a child can handle scenes like the last two battle sequence written above, it is recommended that the child is accompanied by a parent, until he/she is used to it.
