Decline and fall of Pasikowski
jerzym7 October 2000
I was the fan of Pasikowski from her debut movie "Kroll". Both parts of "Psy" are my fav movies but gradually I'm losing faith in his talent. "Demony Wojny" was low-budget but thrilling movie about Balkan war but "Operacja Samum" is also low-budget without any thrills. All action elements are highly predictable, actors repeats the same licks /the cast is filled in Pasikowski's movies by the same, few actors/. Best moment is puking on the Iraqi's soldier booths by the drunken CIA agent.

Very good portrayal of Iraqi war

This film was also very popular in my home-country, Russia, since we always loved and do Polish cinema. This film is another must as it vividly and truthfully depicts the events of the Iraqi war of 1990. Here, we see how CIA agents are driven from Iraq kith the help of Polsih Intelligence officers. What is really nice in this film is the atmosphere - you do feel this terrible heat, you feel the sun and the sand on your burnt skin and you almost start swallowing sweat on your lips. The film really reproduces the hostile Iraqi weather and likewise hostile soldiers. The final scene when the CI agents are drunk deliberately and must speak Polish in order to be taken for Polish workers and be let go free is just excellent. The play of two Polish mega-stars - Linda and Kondrat - is also very strong. They are cold, firm and exact, just as people had to be there not to be killed. Very good film, both entertaining and serious.

A gripping true story about attempts to rescue CIA agents from Iraq in 1990
andrew-13320 May 2000
In 1990 Polish Intelligence was asked by the CIA to assist in pulling out of Iraq 3 CIA operatives who were stranded within the country. At the same time the Iraqis had arrested a son of a retired Polish intelligence officer who then went to Iraq to help his son. In a ruthless manner, the Polish Intelligence leaked to the Iraqis that it was him who was trying to rescue the Americans, using him as a decoy. A gripping story, sometimes complicated, as real life sometimes tends to be. Excellent movie.
