Boys Aware (1973)
** (out of 4)
Sid Davis pretty much makes a scene-for-scene remake of his notorious 1961 film BOYS BEWARE. Both films deal with the dangers that little boys face when there are dangerous homosexuals are wanting to do them harm. Yes, both films show homosexuals as being "mentally ill" and they "look normal but they're not." With those type of lines you know exactly what you're getting with this educational picture. BOYS AWARE isn't nearly as good as the original film. Yes, both are incredibly stupid but at least the original was so insane in its views of homosexuality that you couldn't help but laugh and be amused. This film here is pretty lazy because everything from the original is copied here and really the only difference is that the "basketball" scene is played by black actors this time around. This here isn't nearly as effective but it should also be said that it's not nearly as offensive either.
