High quality entertainment Warning: Spoilers
"Cybersix" is a female superhero cartoon done right.

Not only the animation is extremely good, with a great use of colors and a stylish atmosphere that fits perfectly well with the overall tone of the story, but also this series had many interesting (and likable) characters a fascinating plot that combines incredibly well the action, the seriousness and the comedy.

Even if the story of this toned down several aspects from the original comic in which this was inspired, it respected the essence of the source material, being an intelligent animation that could be enjoyed by the whole family, pretty much like "Gargoyles". (Though I am sure than adult viewers would appreciate this more than the kids.) "Cybersix" was an excellent series that deserved way more appreciation and recognition. Even if it was too short, the 13 episodes from this series were pretty well done, being each one of them highly entertaining and enjoyable.

Glad to have discovered this series.

Cybersix is a well made series that sadly didn't continue after one season of only thirteen episodes. The animation is beautiful, the action was good, the characters were cool and the music was good.

The villainous José was wonderfully over-the-top as the main villain set in place by his father who runs everything behind a layer of mystery. José may be evil, but you have no doubt about how evil the father is, because every time he turns up everyone looks terrified.

If there in any way could be created more episodes and the series could continue, it could have been one of the big hidden gems of the 90's. What we got was really good and promising, so why it was cancelled I don't know.

Embark an adventure...through the 1990s!
bhermann-4060831 March 2020
I watched this show at the recommendation of one of my Reddit friends, who said this is "girl-focused." This show, I admit, doesn't really compare, stylistically to Kipo or Cleopatra in Space, for instance. Even so, worth watching for the fun of it and to see the kickass cross-dressing woman (one of the protagonists), Cybersix, who fights evildoers and wants to do good, in action. It has a comical villain whose plans are always foiled, with the protagonist (an artificial humanoid) working with a buff man, Lucas, occasionally an orphan boy named Julian, and Data-7, Cybersix's brother, whose mind is inside a panther. This show, which aired in September and October 1999, has serious 90s vibes, reminding me of the antics of Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego? which aired from 1994 to 1999, the episodes which can all be found on YouTube. With that, I'd still confidently give this show my recommendation, especially since it was planned for more than one season but production conflicts prevented it. The wonderfulness of the show is why it is a cult classic among some. Due to the 90s vibe, that's why I am putting this at the rating of 9.

Cybersix, a sensation.
kalinkas17 September 2000
I came across a Cybersix promo by chance one night while browsing through tv channels. As a long time fan of action based/Hero cartoons I was instantly intrigued. It's nice to see a female hero with her own cartoon, instead of her being just a sidekick or contemporary of a male superhero. Despite the fact that she wears a form fitting black rubber outfit and stilettos to fight evil, she's portrayed as athletic instead of sexy.

Somehow by just wearing a man's clothes, flicking her hair back and putting on a pair of glasses she upholds her gender bending masquerade by day. Lucas is either too wrapped up in his own little world to notice that Cybersix and Adrian look strangely alike, or he's the dumbest biology professor I've ever seen.

Beautiful animation and action, but the story feels like it's missing pieces.
IonicBreezeMachine13 May 2020
Based on an Argentinian comic involving Nazis, prostitutes, and mad science it's nothing short of amazing that this managed to squeak by the Fox Kids censors. The show animated by TMS who animated Batman: TAS and Animaniacs is absolutely beautiful with graceful movements elegantly choreographed upon the gorgeous backgrounds making up the fictional city of Meridiana. As an example of sheer tradecraft and technical skill Cybersix has few equals(except for maybe the Spawn animated series). The story however is where things become less polished the premise is certainly one that we've seen before where a creation(in this case Cybersix) rebels against an evil creator, but many details feel like they're either not expanded upon enough or are just flat out missing. In the first few epsiodes Von Reichter makes a good impression as an antagonist, but whatever good will is soon squandered as the true antagonist of the series is his whiny, arogant, brat of a son Jose who often feels like he's at a marked disadvantage to Cybersix because he's incapable of projecting menace or threat(especially with how often the show will put him in humiliating slapstick). Also the villains aren't given any depth mainly because they can't. In the original comic it's made clear that both Jose and Von Reichter are Nazis and there are some allusions to that in the show(such as Jose goosestepping when he walks), but because the villains have such a taboo connection in the comics the creators just pretend it doesn't exist so the villains never really achieve the level of depth we'd seen in contemporary actions shows like Batman: TAS. That's not to say that there were never moments of complexity on the show, episodes such as Terra and Daylight Devil put Cybersix into intriguing moral quandaries where Von Reichter's creations questioned their mission in trying to destroy Cybersix but for the most part many of the aspects were often avoided. As it stands, Cybersix is a flawed bu entertaining series.

Great action animation
dave13-14 January 2021
TMS produced this late 90's Canadian adaptation of an Argentinian comic and it shows. The silky smooth action animation rivals that of Batman TAS of the same period and this is the series' best aspect. Every episode features at least one elaborately staged and beautifully shot action set piece which would have been insanely complex and expensive to shoot live action. The look of the series is an odd mix of comic strip art - hairy arms are depicted as dark dashes! - with extraordinarily detailed backdrops. The city setting is a marvel in itself, a blend of the old world with its dilapidated opera house, narrow streets and open air market stalls and mad science cybernetic modern. A character appears to be strolling through MGM Paris of the 1930's only to run across a killer robot. The stories never get quite as complex as the best of Batman TAS, but they are consistently well-plotted and watchable. Suspense abounds and there are some frightening moments, but no excessive violence amid the often wild action. The characters are a bit superficial and their interactions can be a bit simplistic but even this aspect of the show exceeds typical teen cartoon standards. The series' major theme is a positive one for young viewers, that even something created for bad purposes (such as the main character herself, a bio-cybernetic construct) is not inherently irredeemable. All shows should be this humane in this age of dark and gritty superheroics. As of this writing, Cybersix is streaming on Tubi.

Best Cartoon ever!
acneedham-9765724 November 2016
Holy Poop! This is what action cartoons should be! This was a great action cartoon to be honest. The animation is some of the best that you will see! The jokes will really give you such a genuine chuckle that it will put angry beavers to shame in terms of jokes! Even if it was a Saturday morning network cartoon, It would not pander and talk down to children and make for some interesting & intense moments that will stick to you like nails to fingers or chocolate to peanut butter! The best thing about this admirable show is it's hero and villain! Cyber6 herself is so strong & powerful & will never back down from a fight! Her villain Jose is cleverly written & give tech nus from Danny Phantom a run for his money in terms cleverness! You can support the show by watching it on YouTube. All 13 episodes are available to watch! 9/10

I miss the late 90's early 00's.
ThunderKing63 October 2019
This is such an underrated show during a time when cartoons were not as hype as today. This was when people watched Teletoon before the birth of Netflix and co.

If this show had aired now it would be top popular shows. I guarantee it.

Cybersix is a calm cool show.

When they force female protagonists then that's when shows and characters feel overwhelming.

This show has a female lead and its cool. But bring in likes of MCU Captain Marvel then that's when things don't go to well.

Short n Sweet

Cybersix had that touch of light heartedness which was enjoyable to watch. It was really unfortunate that the series had to end with just one season. It felt like so many things were left unexplored, and it could have easily become an adult animation show by just taking the plot elements a notch up. I wish the series get a reboot in the future.

Wicked Cool!
cartoonguy10 September 2000
This cartoon is by far one of the best shows I have seen. The animation is beautiful, and the story is original and cool. The show is about a cyborg named Cybersix, who escapes her evil creator, and disguises herself as a male teacher at the local Highschool. When her creator, Von Reichter discovers that she is alive, he uses his other creations to try and destroy Cybersix. The cartoon is filled with action, danger, comedy, and romance. This is a must see for everyone, an A+ Cartoon.

What makes us human?
naia_zifu30 September 2004
Cybersix is smart, beautiful, strong, sexy, brave-- the perfect woman. . . but she also happens to be a genetically-engineered experiment created in a mad scientist's lab. Because of this, she spends the whole series questioning her own humanity, while making us all think about what makes one human. This is a great show that simply never found its niche. It was a children's show animated in Japan, for Canada, based on an adult's Argentenian comic. It seemed to have been marketed to young boys, for some reason, though I think it would've been nice to bill it as an empowerment tool for young girls. . . or more profitable to make it more mature, marketed to a teen and adult audience. . . but it's a nice show with a lot of potential (and a small but loyal cult following) as it is. Way too late to hope for season 2, but could someone maybe throw us a movie, sequel/spin off series, video game, merchandise, anything? Animated or live, I'm not picky. *angelic smile*

A Wonderful Cartoon.
blackarachnia27 April 2004
I really enjoy watching Cybersix. She's my all time favourite anime superhero. When I first saw Cybersix I thought to myself: now here's a cartoon character that I can relate to. A woman trying to make it in a man's world. Just like Batman, Superman and Wonderwoman she's trying to conceal her identity from people she trusts as her alter-ego. The only one knowing her true identity being Data-7. It must be a tough life for her. Cybersix is the character that can be best described as a fun character with lots of charisma. I only wish we could have found out what happened to Cybersix and Von Reichter after the floating fortress exploded.

Cybersix..The Review

Warning: Spoilers
====Spoiler Alert!==============================> The following contains plot descriptions of the series Cybersix, airing in Canada. If you are not in Canada and have not seen the series yet, don't read my post until you have seen all of the episodes of Cybersix

=================================================

: : : Cybersix: Animated Series A Review:

I first saw the animated series Cybersix air in Canada on Teletoon's "Tournament of Champions" (in which Cybersix beat Johnny Bravo by 13 votes). I've never even heard of this super-heroine before so naturally my opinions were being formed as I watched.

My first impression was confusion and some disdain for the character. I did not understand until around halfway through the series exactly what Cybersix was...a super-powered female version of Frankenstein made by a brilliant yet mad scientist. The costume she wears looks like a cheap rip-off of Spawn's own, complete with the flared satanic hood and cape. And what kind of super hero wears stiletto heels? Would be rather hard fighting the bad guys while wearing them, wouldn't it? :>

However, by the fourth episode, I gotten to like Cybersix. The animation is breath-taking, the stories (when they were good...explained later) are engaging and imaginative, written for all ages. The self-conflict Cybersix bears alone within herself is touching without going to the point of being sappy. You can't help but cheer for this character when she knocks down a villian with a good punch, and can't help but feel sorry for her when she struggles and stumbles while attempting to find humanity and love.

Now, my praise for the series also comes with some criticism. First of all, the series assumes you know about Cybersix's origin. If you are not familar with her origin, like myself, you are going to be confused at first. You will not know what a Techno or Sustenance is because it is not explained in the series. I had to go on the World Wide Web and view a few home pages about Cybersix to make up for the lack of information.

Second of all is the mix of good and bad episodes. While "Daylight Devil", "The Eye", and what looks like the end of Cybersix in the grim-titled "The Final Confrontation" are well-written and engaging, you will come across episodes like "Blue Birds Of Horror" and "Gone With The Wings" that quite frankly stink. Episodes like "Full-Moon Fascination" and "The Greatest Show In Meridiana" and the rest rank from good to great.

I did mention the series had great animation, but it looks like they cut a few corners in some cases. One glaring one is a violation of gender anatomy. While Cybersix is undeniably female (whoo-hoo! :) ), she secretly masquerades as a male teacher named Adrian Seidelman. The problem I have is that as Adrian, Cybersix is drawn by the animators with male hands and a male body. When Cybersix is in costume, she is drawn with very clearly defined female features ( ;) ) and female hands. I would have preferred a more compromise of how the body of the Cybersix/Adrian character is drawn for sake of realism. But then again, it's only a cartoon :)

Bottom line is that the series can become a winning series in the same category as Warner Brother's "Batman & Superman" series. It just needs a bit of fine-tuning

Sensational animation...but the scripts, oy...
Smile-1117 November 1999
As an animation junkie, I was pleased as punch to find the show "Cybersix" on Canada's Teletoon station...the animation is done in part by a company called TMS, who did the best work on my favorite show, "The New Batman/Superman Adventures".

The work on "Cybersix" is better.

The characters move with a fluidity and grace that I've hardly seen in any animation, American or otherwise. If the scripts were half the equal of the animation, it would be one of the best shows ever put to video.

Yeah, the scripts are pretty weak. The story is very hard to understand, but that's what's to be expected when you deal with so many bizarre characters. They include the son of a famous super-villain, a reporter, a black panther, a homeless child, and the hero, Cybersix, who apparently owes her superpowers to the fact that she's a robot. Strange? Check it out.

On par with Superman and Batman!
Ivanhoe19 February 2000
As far as I know, Cybersix is not based on a comic book. But the makers of Cybersix have created a rich and intricate world that is as ingenious and exciting as those of Superman and Batman.

Cybersix is a mysterious fembot in a tight leather suit and an extremely large cape who is able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. She has a sidekick Dataseven, a black panther, who helps her fight the terror of an evil man, whose evil ploys are carried out by his pre-pubescent, bumbling, but equally evil son, and an army of Frankensteinesque goons.

While I admit this all sounds rather silly, the story is actually quite engrossing, and the quality of the animation is second to none. It is also very family-friendly. A ten-year-old could follow the story, but it doesn't patronize its younger audience; and a forty-year-old could appreciate the story without its feeling watered-down.

All in all, Cybersix is one of the best superheroes television has ever seen. Unfortunately, as of this writing, it is not available in the U.S.A. If you're ever in Canada, definitely check it out on Teletoon.

Warning: Spoilers
My enemy Aaron watches this show and so do I. Well Jose the enemy of Cybersix tries to trap her. At the end Jose ends up with misfortune. I love this cartoon. I hope there is a spinoff of this show. I miss this show. Then Cybersix's buddy tries to save her. There was an episode of this program where Jose puts Cybersix in an hourglass filled with water.
