Not scary but not bad either
preppy-39 June 2003
Real estate man John Ritter shows three houses to a young couple (David Deluise, Allison Smith). Each one has a horrible story attached to it which Ritter tells the couple.

"Nightmare" is a predictable story about a love triangle and murder. There are too many false scares but it's fairly well-done. "Bobo" is a real stupid tale of a killer monkey. Dumb, illogical, silly but Bryan Cranston gives a good performance despite the script. "Come to Granny" is a winner. A teenage boy (Will Estes) sees killings before they're about to happen at the hands of the Granny Killer--a killer who wears a disgusting old womans mask while killing women. The mask itself is scary and the murder scenes are violent, bloody and extremely well-done. Also Estes makes for a very sympathetic protagonist (and has a surprising shower scene). The final wrap up of the framing story is also bloody, funny and really good.

All in all, it's much better than I expected. It's worth seeing for the bits involving Ritter (who's very good) and the final story.

Worth a casual viewing, this is quite entertaining
lagriff0517 June 2007
Ah, Terror Tract. I had seen this movie about a year ago and enjoyed it a lot. It's three horror stories, each about 35-40 minutes each, compiled into one movie. They tie it all together with a story about a real estate officer who desperately, DESPERATELY needs to sell homes to a newlywed couple, and ends up telling them the stories behind each house. The first story, "Nightmare", is a love triangle story that involves a murdered husband coming back from the dead to kill his wife. The second story, "Bobo", is about a pet monkey that has some sinister tricks up it's sleeve. The third story 'Come to Granny' is the real gold nugget in this piece, the shining work of the film. And the ending is a good exercise in chaotic insanity that will leave a bewildered smile on your face as the credits roll in.

"Nightmare" is a solid little story, but not overly memorable, and could've been omitted for a better one, or just to elongate the duration of "Come to Granny." This story felt way too long and was rather boring in some parts, although the ending was nice and the murder scene at the beginning was well executed (heh...pun...). Bad acting all around though. "Bobo" has good acting by Bryan Cranston as Ron, the father, and is rather humorous and ridiculous. It was a step up from the bland "Nightmare", but still not world class and could not stand on it's own as a real movie.

Then we reach the high point of our little anthology, "Come to Granny." It's the story of a troubled, dark young man who comes into the office of a psychiatrist late in the evening, and begins to tell the tale of how he sees the murders of 'The Granny Killer', a brutal psychopath who wears a mask resembling an old woman, and how his life was ruined because of it. This one packs very good hack-n-slash kills and an excellent and creepy ending. We have a good acting performance by Will Estes as Sean, and if I can say, Shonda Farr looks very nice as Jasmine, too. This one would be very good as a B slasher/horror flick, and I'd definitely pick it up on it's own. Worth the rental of the entire anthology by itself.

The ending of the film itself, like I stated above, is a good little burst of chaos and blood and gore, and pretty funny. John Ritter's performance was adequate and he did a great job. Overall, worth a rental for even casual horror fans, if you're looking for something interesting. This also comes with Cherry Falls in some sort of double feature type thing, and that movie is my personal favorite of the two.

Make Me An Offer!
mattressman_pdl3 April 2011
I caught this peculiar little gem late night on USA and was instantly intrigued. John Ritter hamming it up royally among granny masked killers, malevolent monkeys, and at least one zombie. Well it's all part of Terror Tract, an enjoyable anthology which follows a young couple looking at homes with a kindly (if a little strange) real estate agent (Ritter). But each house comes with a story (full disclosure), and the young couple may be in for more than they bargained. Story One: After doing away with her husband, a woman and her lover are haunted by visions of said husband unearthing himself from his watery grave and returning for vengeance. Story Two: A little girl finds a playful monkey in her backyard and asks her father (Bryan Cranston) to keep it...but why does the monkey unsettle the father so. Story Three: A young man believes he shares a psychic connection with a brutal serial killer adorned in a granny-mask. But it's the wraparound that is the most fiendish fun it becomes clear that no house on Terror Tract is free from evil. The budget may be a little low but I would stack it up against most of the studio horror films these days. Just watch out for granny face!

Pretty cool suburban horror-anthology
Coventry13 January 2004
(the house on)Terror Tract is a recent and rather good horror film that should have deserved a bit more praise and credit than it actually got at the time of its release. It certainly isn't a highlight, but it is good enough to take the test with similar movies like "Creepshow" and "Tales from the Darkside". The late John Ritter portrays a real-estate manager who's showing some fancy and luxurious houses to a young couple. Due to a newly introduced ethical law, he's obliged to tell the potential buyers every little detail about the past of these houses. That's how we come to the separate stories. Actually, the whole wraparound story starring John Ritter is the best part of the entire movie...it contains a terrific opening on the "eat or be eaten" theme and the finale is just great. Terror Tract constantly flirts with the genre of parody (life in the upper-class neighborhood) but it manages to keep up the horror atmosphere during the entire movie. The quality level of the actual stories of Terror Tract is varying directly as their order. The first story is lame and far from original and handles about the "getting rid of the husband's corpse"-theme. The second story contains a few more interesting aspects but it still isn't quite satisfying. However, the third and final story was really good. It has a fascinating plot and the suspense is built up real well.

The House on Terror Tract certainly isn't a must-see, but you won't regret it if you spend your time watching it. The most important positive point of this film are that it has a fresh and light-headed tone and a pretty funny surrounding. It could have used a bit more bloody sequences, though...

Tickled by Terror Tract!
Astraether30 October 2012
I'm a sucker for John Ritter due to my longstanding love of "Three's Company," so when I stumbled across this flick while browsing through On Demand horror movies, I was quick to download it.

I wasn't expecting much, but I found myself laughing right from the opening credits, and I was thoroughly engaged during these "Tales from the Darkside"-type stories. I think my favorite was the second--I don't think I've ever seen a monkey as a horror villain!

The film satisfied both my love for Ritter and my love for cheezy horror, so I have no complaints. If you like Tales from the Crypt, Tales from the Darkside, the Twilight Zone, or any of the other myriad sci-fi/horror anthologies, you might just enjoy this little unknown gem. Worth a watch, especially around Halloween when all the other horror flicks are rented.

Not a Bad Anthology
gavin694217 October 2013
Bob Carter (John Ritter), a suburban real estate agent, tries to get a kindly couple, Allen and Mary Ann Doyle, to buy a house only to give them horrifying stories about the pasts of three of them.

What really sells this film is the "before they were stars" appeal of it. The "Nightmare" segment features Wade Williams years before his big break on "Prison Break".

The "Bobo" segment features Bryan Cranston, just as he was hitting it big with "Malcolm in the Middle" and years before "Breaking Bad" made him an A-list star.

And the "Come to Granny" segment has Brenda Strong, who was already quite successful, but this was again years before her biggest role: on "Desperate Housewives".

Beyond that, it is a slightly above average horror film. Nothing like a "lost treasure", but definitely worth checking out.

Monkey shines and other trivia.

Warning: Spoilers
"Terror tract" ,although not very scary is at least very entertaining and very funny .The three segments are good ,with the middle one the best.

The first quality of this movie made up of sketches is its lack of pretension ,which is not the case of Stephen King's overrated stories. The first one ,about the eternal love triangle and the third one which deals with a neurotic adolescent,a shrink and a serial killer are run of the mill but they have some good unexpected twists in store.

But come on come on come on is such a joy come on and take it easy !everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey! That 'w what the young girl of the second segment could sing. The monkey Bobo easily steals the show. The story is very original:a father adores his daughter:but the nice little girl finds a monkey and his father is no longer number one on the love charts. To reveal more would be a spoiler ,but it's the only segment which retains a certain ambiguity:is the monkey evil or is the dad going off his nut?Probably both ,but I would give the animal a supporting part AA.

So this is why the housing market is always so unsteady?
happyendingrocks20 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
With several well-placed scares, morbid humor that is actually refreshing and funny, and a trio of well-constructed and concise stories, Terror Tract is far better than you'd expect from a direct-to-DVD offering from USA Pictures. The tone here is right on par with "Tales From The Crypt", and the film certainly doesn't take itself too seriously, making it a very fun bit of escapist fare. In almost all conceivable aspects, this film succeeds admirably as a light-hearted horror anthology that supplies enough actual horror and liberal gore to satisfy even those with the darkest appetites for the genre.

The presence of beloved late television icon John Ritter elevates the film tremendously, and the framing story he leads is every bit as good as the segments he introduces. The device lends itself very well to the anthology arrangement, as Ritter takes a young couple of prospective home-owners to three residences with doomed pasts, and is forced to reveal the dark secrets that keep these houses unsold. Ritter is delightful here, and he seems to be having a great time with the witty and twisted material.

The first segment is sort of a reversal of "Something To Tide You Over" from the best horror anthology film of all time, Creepshow. In Terror Tract, the revenge plot revolves around a spurned husband dying at the hands of his adulterous wife and her lover and stalking them from beyond the grave. This basic tale could have come straight out of the pages of classic EC comics, and even though every step along the way is predictable, the story is excellently realized and manages to summon up a couple of shocks. For cable-ready fare, they don't skimp on the gore here, and the simplicity works very well when the story is told this effectively.

As is customary with anthology films, the middle segment is by far the weakest. This one concerns a murderous monkey named Bobo that stalks the family of a little girl who takes him in, and while the rote story doesn't offer any surprises, it's about as well-realized as a tale about a killer monkey can be. Even the presence of one of the most useless professional wrestlers of all time, Marcus "Buff" Bagwell, turns out better than expected, and seeing Bagwell impaled with a whole caddy of kitchen knives is a nice treat for wrestling fans with years of pent up annoyance.

The last chapter is arguably the strongest, and the bloodiest. "The Granny Killer" (a killer in a granny mask, not a killer who kills grannies) is a fine concoction, and the mask is a very creepy set-piece that offsets the silliness of the murderer's catchphrase: "come to Granny". The story is perfectly suited for a 20-minute anthology piece, and even though you guess the twist a mile away, like the rest of the film, it's such a well-crafted and enjoyable bit of obviousness that you won't really care that you saw it coming. Bonus points to the film-makers for the haunting listing in the credits that inserts a question mark in lieu of the name of the person donning the Granny suit.

You could certainly pick apart Terror Tract and identify most of the source material, but this film clearly has no aspirations other than to be a fun way to spend 90 minutes. It certainly is that, and despite the fair but seemingly weak "7" rating, I would like to add that I would undoubtedly recommend this film to any fan of the genre. It's hard to imagine anyone being too disappointed, and this excellent and clever little sleeper doesn't deserve to languish in the obscurity it currently occupies.

On a side note, I'd recommend for those interested in this film to seek out the DVD version that presents it as a double feature with another surprisingly good USA offering, Cherry Falls. The films compliment each other well, and both share the similar trait of presenting crossover horror fare that will appeal to die-hard fiends and fans of more moderate genre pieces like Scream alike.

No matter how you see it, do check out this undiscovered little gem. It really is a fantastic little film, and John's just dying to show you some houses. You see, his company has this incentive plan...

Monkey on your back
movieman_kev27 April 2012
Bob Carter (the late great John Ritter) is a real estate agent who introduces three houses each with a peculiar back story to a couple in this Entertaining little horror-comedy. The first story revolves around a cheating spouse, her lover and her cuckolded husband whom proves to be quite the thorn in their side. Predictable, but entertaining thanks in part to Prison Break's Wade Williams in a bit part and the cuteness of Rachel York,

The second tale is pretty much A father (Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle) versus an evil monkey. Not much more to it than that, but it's all you need really. It's amusing if slight.

The third tale about the "Granny Killer" is simply OK but it's also got the worst most annoying serial killer in decades. That's a huge detriment and in my opinion made this the worst of the bunch. Th wraparound story is suitably over-the-top, I quiet enjoyed that.

Eye Candy: Shonda Farr is briefly topless underwater

My Grade: C

A really good anthology
atinder20 March 2013
Another anthology which is stable as more of dark comedy Horror movie

A a real-estate agent (Played by Late John" Ritter trying to sell a variety of houses to a young couple;

They 3 different house and they all seem have very Dark Pass! (The first House) "Nightmare"

A man catches is wife sleeping another, soon thing happen, when tries to revenge on her boyfriend, soon what thing lead to another, some one killed, that body was sleeping with the fishes.

This segment started of really well but as the it's went down hill really quick .

There some decent scenes that could have been really creepy but so many of those ending being fake scare.

When any another scary scenes happen you already know that already try to creep out with also the same scenes twice , one tiny thing changes in those scene,

Its got boring, I didn't really care the near the end of this story, Decent story but ruined by to many fake scare too close to each other!

4/10

After hearing that Story, the young couple didn't what to buy this house, so go to other house, which they love Until

Man tells them story about this house

"Bobo,"

Normal nice family father and daughter getting along really well, until she finds the monkey in the tree.

She ask her dad to keep it but some the Monkey hates everyone but the girl, The Dad not happy at all, Daughter is acting like a right brat, who should be slap too next year! Never mind go to her room

The monkey soon start attacking but it's shame with only see aftermath of monkey, we don't see he attack in first few animals and people its kills.

At end, we do see attack one person in the movie, which far to late the story, I thought attack was decent.

This never really had ending, never see what happens in end of story, we only gun shot but dad was not holding the gun.

The acting was really good in this story from whole cast!

6/10

Again Young couple pass on this house

And they go too next house

Come To Granny"

Teenager who seem have psychic abilities and he goes to see a therapist, he tells her he as crazy visions in which he sees the Granny killer killing his victims. (Granny mask was very cool and funny in way).

When he gets these Visions is starts having a fit (Which was poorly acted in flash back) then he warns her that she next Victim of the Granny killer.

This one was Decent story but very predicable and some of worst acted segment in this movie and I didn't like the Idea of Granny kill Mask.

4 out of 10

The couple refusing to buy any of the houses, The estate agent goes mad and snaps! soon things turns nasty.

The last scenes was bloody funny, the whole neighbour hood was crazy, every house some thing bad was going on.

I give this movie 7 out of 10

Whoever wrote this, please let me slap you around....
JBoze31331 March 2001
Warning: Spoilers
*spoilers* A note first off...it's a bit hard to explain the horrible plot without trying to explain the movie, but since I don't want to write a novel here, it's a bit jumbled!

This movie is horrible in all ways possible. The stories are ridiculous, the acting is horrible, especially in the first story (whoever the wife is, she needs to find a new profession!!!) The movie is just a laugh, and it shames me to watch it. First off, the plot holes are ridiculous and whoever wrote the movie needs to be slapped around for a while. As for plot holes...The husband comes in to find his wife with another man, he's going to kill him, and have her hang herself, making it look like a murder/suicide. The lover knocks the husband down at the last second, then wrestles with him, stabs him with a pair of scissors, then he gets knocked out by the husband. The husband is back to his wife, about to slice her throat, yet at the very last possible second, the lover awakens from being knocked down and shoots the husband. Great timing all around in this scene! As for the lover's actions after the husband's death...how on earth is anyone this stupid? He thinks he'll just dump the body into the lake, and bam, all their problems are gone? He goes down to the lake with the body, (the wife is asleep at home...I mean, her husband was just shot to death, and his blood covered her face...of course she'd be able to fall right into peaceful slumber!) So, the lover is at the lake, and without making sure no one is around, he just gets the body out of the car, puts it into a row boat, and dumps it into the lake with some cement blocks. No one will ever find it (nope...never.) The wife, back at home, is having nightmares of her husband coming back to the house all wet and slimey and killing her.....the lover comes back and "protects" her. A few other pointless things happen...then comes the funny part. They forgot to hide the husband's car (aw shucks) so they go out together in broad daylight to find the car and hide it...then the cops will never ever ever figure 'em out. Yeah, right. The keys aren't in the car...the only pair to the car is...GASP, in the lake on the corpse! What do they do? The lover decides to go to the lake at night and get the keys! He gets there, and without looking around (again) he hops in, only to get killed by the undead husband....husband comes back, kills wife, makes it look like a suicide for the cops, the end. (horrible story.)

Next story? Crazy monkey kills family, blame is put on husband. Whatever...this is so stupid, I won't even go into the gaping plot holes.

The rest of the movie drags on like this, I couldn't even review the end, because I was so bored, I was barely watching. In between stories, you see John Ritter try to sell the houses that these various events took place in to a young couple...this whole deal is laughable as well, and it does nothing to improve an awful movie to begin with. Don't waste your time on this movie or any other movie made by USA Pictures....or Films, or whatever name they go by.

Excellent Horror Film
claudio_carvalho7 March 2018
The suburban real estate agent Bob Carter (John Ritter) is driving the newlywed Allen Doyle (David DeLuise) and his wife Mary Ann Doyle (Allison Smith) through a suburban area expecting to sell a house to them. While showing the houses, his clients asks for full disclosure about each house and Carter is forced to tell the frightful truth about each house. In the end, Mary Ann knows the neighborhood.

"Terror Tract" is an excellent horror film with a lead storyline and three segments. "Nightmare", "Bobo" and come to Granny" are highly entertaining and the lead segment "Make Me an Offer" has a surprising and hilarious conclusion. My vote is eight.

Not that bad but could've been better
Going out looking for house, a real-estate agent shows newlyweds three different properties and shares each of their gruesome histories with them. With each failed story, they realize there is a reason why he's intent to close a sale.

The Good Stor(ies): Nightmare-Returning home early, a husband finds his wife having an affair and confronts them about it, attempting to put an end to it by setting it up like they killed each other. When the plan goes awry and he becomes the victim, they conspire to get rid of him so they can live together. Thinking they have gotten away with it, they try to carry on, only to be confronted by something from the past that's not intent on letting their deeds go unpunished. This here is a fun entry that definitely opens the film the right way. It's incredibly predictable and the conclusion can be guessed less than a minute into it, but it's still really good. The nightmares provide some nice suspense, especially the soggy, plodding footsteps and the howling wind giving some old-school touches to the proceedings. The dive underwater is simply fantastic, offering up a couple great scare tactics and a great setting to go along. It's even got a great brawling scene that comes of rather well, and despite being a little overlong, it still leaves a good feeling afterward.

Come to Granny-Consumed with guilt, a young man offers to see a psychiatrist about a mysterious killer known as the Granny Killer, which has been plaguing the area. Convinced he might be the killer as he's been having flashes before each kill, and as he continues his story, she starts to suspect there's something to his story. This was a quite enjoyable entry, as it's a simple slasher story that really does its job well. The kills are great if a little too much off-screen, which is the main problem as they really shouldn't have been. With several violent hacked-up, a complete dismemberment and a vicious stabbing, none of it was shown but heavily implied, when it didn't need to be. The rest is good, with the stalking being rather fun with some great points in them that make for a lot of fun. It even has a really great mystery, being completely unsure if it's a recollection of his or just receiving psychic flashes, handling them well enough for its short running time and being rather nice about it. There's also a lot to like about the twist which plays well with the storyline as well, and the villain also sports a really wicked-looking granny mask that is quite terrifying, and the puns at the kills are clever and funny. This was just an all-around good segment.

The Bad Stor(ies): Bobo-Waking up one morning, a couple find their daughter concerned over a monkey she found in the backyard. As time goes on, she gets more and more attached to it which makes him all the more against keeping it, eventually getting to the point of outright hatred. Convinced its evil, he tries whatever he can to get rid of it, which it fights back with equal ferocity. There wasn't a whole lot of good stuff here. The only one is the one good kill, seeing a victim propped up against a wall with a dozen knives sticking out of their chest. It's a great visual and the only good thing here, as the rest of the segment consists of him running around trying to kill it for no reason. Later versions aren't bad, but an explanation for the initial rejection beyond just a parent's word would've been great to add a little more weight. It even skips over a built-in clause for this, in that it's a wild animal with potential deadly diseases and he needs to protect his family's safety, which is perfectly acceptable and made a ton of sense. That leaves the attacks to rely on their brutality, but are so lazily edited or so tame they lose a lot of their impact. Add into that a completely non-threatening monkey villain and this one just doesn't have much going on and as such drags the whole film down.

Rated R: Graphic Violence, Language, Brief Nudity, minor animal violence and a mild sex scene.

What a bunch of garbage
filmbytes13 November 2012
I got fooled by seeing the names of some reputable people including genius Brian Tyler. Well, you fooled me. If it wasn't that I stupidly spent money watching this crap, I wouldn't even post a review, just move on. But it made me angry to have wasted my time and money and maybe I can save someone else. I thought it was going to have decent production value with these names, but it looked worse than a student film. And not a very talented one. This is what happens when you get people who want to make money off a genre and don't have a clue or the talent to pull it off. Nothing unique or original in any of these three stories. Very very amateurish in approach, story and technique but overly self-conscious and imitative in execution and style. The only interesting laughs was John Ritter's over the top moments. But he was a capable actor. God only knows how he could have fallen so low to do something like this.

Like "B" Movies? Have a look...
jeremyemmet17 February 2005
If you're a fan of searching through "B" movies and finding those rare ones with true "gem" moments, have a look. John Ritter truly makes this film. His segment has the most laughs, and the best tongue-in-cheek delivery. The story that ties the three sub-features together is actually the best one. Format-wise, this is purely Tales From the Dark Side. One segment ties three 30-minute shorts together, and much fun is had by all. Hokey horror and fun ensues. Segment 1 is the weakest of the bunch, but still has a few moments to keep things lively. Segment two is supported both by a notable appearance (Bryan Cranston, father on Malcolm In the Middle) and by a hilariously preposterous evil villain. Segment three is the creepiest of the bunch, and uses classic thriller/horror tricks without concerning itself with an explanation or a payoff, much like the early fifties Twilight Zone episodes. Personally, my favourite moment is the opening credit sequence, which stands tall among "b" movie setups. But it's still a bad movie...

Terror Tract
Scarecrow-8831 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
A prosperous real estate agent (John Ritter, in an amusing performance) is in desperate need of a break and hopes a newlywed couple will buy one of three homes he plans to show them on a sunny afternoon...but his duty to abide by the rules to tell of the history regarding each domicile makes the sales pitch especially difficult!

The first home involves an affair, attempted murder, real murder, a cover-up, missing car keys, accidental murder, and a suspicious hanging which might include a vengeance seeking husband from beyond death, rising from the resting place of a watery lake grave.

The second home involves a homicidal monkey and the little girl it loves. The father (Bryan Cranston!) comes between the monkey and his daughter which eventually sends the primate into a violent path where few are safe! Even WCW pro wrestler, Buff Bagwell isn't safe!

The third home involves a "granny" psycho (a wacko who dresses in an old woman wrinkly flesh mask, even speaking the part!) who seems to target women in their thirties (except for his ex-girlfriend, obviously), using a hatchet mostly. A troubled teenage kid, with business minded parents who barely pay attention to the son who certainly needs it, seems to have a psychic link with the killer which carries him right into the crimes as they happen! A psychiatrist listens to his story and wonders if she has the very granny killer right before her...in her office, inside a building seemingly empty!

A nice photographic style, with really flashy visual flair applied to the violent sequences, and a warped sense of humor (particularly the gonzo ending which shows suburbia gone berserk) help to compensate for the unoriginal stories and their predictable outcomes. Ritter is inspired casting and his breakdown at the end due to failure at his job which requires a sale or else a hostage situation would end badly fits the absurd personality of the whole film. Some sparks of shocking violence get the film out of a made for television presentation.

Horror makes whacked house!!!
kevin_blaze11 January 2002
Warning: Spoilers
A real estate agent is showing houses that has histories of horror. They are three house of horrors.

The first story is very typical. A husband catches his wife nailing some tank-top wearing dude…long story short, they kill the bitter hubby, dump his body but his soul doesn't seem to be at rest. The wife keeps on dreaming about her vengeful husband and the police seem to be catching on. This story does feel very déjà vu but it's still a good watch. I did have trouble with the fact that all the wife does after the bloody murder is got to bed to catch some shut eye. How can the broad sleep after seeing her husband die? Personally I'd be up for days if I would kill my ex-girlfriend or see her get killed by my mistress (trust me I know…that was a hard time in my life). The story isn't really scary but its biggest flaw is predictability. I guessed the turn of events every step of the way…no problemo. But overall, the story is always interesting, very moody and gets my `decent times' stamp of approval.

The second story is my favorite. It involves a loving father whose daughter finds a red suit-wearing monkey (Bobo's the name). The monkey gets attached to the little girl and the dad gets kinda jealous. But he has good reason because the monkey is one evil little critter. And before you know it, people are dying and the monkey turns out to be deadlier than we thought. This is the most complete of the three stories. I was fully involved the whole time (Bryan Cranston's kickarse performance helped), rooting for that damn monkey to die already! What a stressful ride! To top it off, the ending kicked my arse all over the place. It's rare that I'm on the good guy's side. This one gets my `SUPER' fun times stamp.

The third story is also groovy but it has a hard act to follow. It involves a kid who visits a shrink and tells her that he has a psychic link to this serial killer (who wears a granny mask). Is the kid the killer or is there really a nut out there? That is the question. Unfortunately, any hardcore genre fan will figure this answer out early on. Much like the first story, this one is somewhat predictable (less than the first one though) but that doesn't mean that it's not an interesting, enjoyable watch. It has a great build-up, the Granny killer cracked me up (here's Granny!) and Will Estes (Sean) gives a solid show. I just wish that the punch of the story could've gone on for longer. When it was all over, I was craving for more. This one gets my `fun times but I wanted more' stamp of approval.

I rate this movie 2/5. It's a non-Hollywood movie but worth to watch if you are bored.

could only be made in the 70s
killercharm8 April 2021
A comedy mystery that could only be made in the 70s. A man wants to commit his brother who believes himself to be Sherlock Holmes so he can have his millions. The psychiatrist at the hospital who needs to pronounce him committed instead becomes his Watson, because as it happens our man does have the deductive skills of a Sherlock Holmes.

Above average anthology
encyes29 October 2013
Terror Tract (2000) is a casual stroll down the streets of horror with nothing too assuming and nothing too surprising. Although there's nothing great about it, there's also nothing terrible about it. The only caveat I can add to that statement is, is that if you've hated monkeys like I do, you'll hate them even more after watching this. but these stories are not upscale homes but quaint, safe row homes, more suburbia than suspenseful. David DeLuise and Bryan Cranston bring in decent but unnotable acting. The late John Ritter's character is a believable and fun performance - especially in the end. But don't sign onto this property for a 30 year mortgage. This is fun as a rental - something you can leave behind - and nothing more.

really awful movie but has some hawt actors in it
marymorrissey21 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Carmine, Marcus and the kid what sees the granny killer. . .. are all this movie really has to offer. Otherwise it's fast forward city all the way. I mean .. . John Ritter in his campy role is gratifying only if you're into oh how the mighty have fallen. the casting of some extraordinarily sexy guys is the one thing that makes this movie remarkable somewhat... the lover in the first episode, the dog pound dawg in the 2nd one, and the youngster who isn't really all that provocative as the other guys are but he's cute and he does drop the soap in the shower, make no mistake! The 10th line of the review has nothing more to add really.

A Riot!!
pcsarkar22 April 2012
After seeing several vapid horror anthologies over the past week, I came across this, on a sleepy, Sunday afternoon. Even after a heavy lunch, this film prevented me from dozing or falling asleep. And the credit goes to this film and this film alone. Hampered by a rather silly, ambiguous title, I was not expecting much, but I found this film to be a riot of laughs, horror and suspense, combined with a very nifty wrap-up yarn. The actors and actresses rock for their performances, and there is never a moment of slack or dullness. Each story follows the other in rapid succession, and Ritter puts in a marvelous performance, from the beginning till the end. Another actor who appealed to me was Bryan Cranston, who played the role of a much-maligned Dad with aplomb. I am not sure whether the monkey was an actual animal or CGI, but whatever it was, it was scary.

A neat package, fit for aficionados of the genre.

cool

I didn't expect this movie to be a good one, I went to the movie to see another movie but change my mind as my friends all urged me to see this movie. At first I wasn't keen to watch the movie but after finishing it I was totally surprise it's a really good movie. All three stories was totally spooky, I really liked the first story,I was at the edge of my seat at the climax of the movie. The second story was strange in a way but also fun to watch, bobo totally spooked me out. As for the third story, it was really scary. But I have to complain about some of the characters in the third story. Nearly all the actor in it is lame.I think the doctor is the only one that made the movie likeable. Her scared expression when the guy explain about his prediction was really good. Two thumbs up for you Brenda Strong. Another good acting is in the bobo(2nd story) slot. The father's performance was the best.I hope you will go far after this movie. As for the other actors they are just okay. Oh and watch out for the ending...funny stuff. Cool movie,go watch it

I liked it a lot
Lando_Hass13 September 2003
I was browsing through the Electronics Boutique in my local mall. Usually, when I see a cheap 2 pack dvd, I'll go for if the movies look promising. That being said, I saw the two pack dvd that consisted of Cherry Falls, and this: Terror Tract. I paid seven dollars for the dvd, and it was worth it, especially for two films.

At first, when I looked at the back of the box, and read the plot, my expectations weren't exactly high. From the description on the back of the box, it sounded like it was just a single-story clichéd horror film about a psycho who takes his job too seriously. When I watched it, I was proven wrong. VERY wrong. The film features three different horror stories, all of them are retold by John Ritter's character. He retells the bloody past of each house to a couple who are thinking of purchasing them. The stories his character tells make up the stories in the movie.

The first horror tale is entitled `Nightmare.' It's plot revolves around a young woman who is caught cheating on her husband with another man. At the beginning of this story, it teases the audience, and me, by showing the back of a nude woman. But anyways, her husband catches her with the other man, revealing that he knew about everything all along. He attempts to kill both his wife, and he lover, but things end up backfiring back to him. The wife and lover dump his `dead' carcass in the water, and desperately try to cover the incident up. I particularly didn't enjoy this story very much, because it has the typical story of a wife cheating on her husband, and someone ending up getting killed. The script is hampered by below mediocre acting from Carmine Giovinazzo (Frank the lover) and Rachel York (Sarah, the wife). The dialogue is lame and derived from old campy horror tales, and each character is just what you would expect: The wife who participates in the murder of her husband, and slowly slipping into insanity because of all the strange things happening, and the lover who seems to never show consideration towards anyone else. The story is somewhat lame, but still proves to be old fashion and fun. The suspense still seems to remain intact, and the tension that builds up in certain scenes will eventually score a cheap scare out you, witch, in my opinion, isn't a bad thing. If a movie has a scare in it, regardless if it's a cheap one, it's still a good thing. Overall, however, this story is the worst out of the bunch, but the movie does get better. Overall Score (for the segment NIGHTMARE): 5 ½ out of 10.

After the couple is disgusted after the realization of the house's past, they go to house number two, which leads to story number two, entitled `Bobo.' Bobo, is about a typical family who finds a seemingly normal monkey in the backyard. The daughter (played by Katelin Petersen) loves the monkey, but as the monkey raises more hell in the house, the father (played by Malcom in the Middle's Bryan Cranston) has more hate for it, and has the feeling that the monkey is evil. This segment bares a more of a `slasher' tone than the previous story. Unlike the previous story, this one doesn't suffer from a s****y script, or bad acting. The acting is a little above mediocre. Each actor creates more characterization for each character, the lines are delivered well, and surprisingly, Marcus Bagwell (a.k.a. Buff Bagwell) delivers a more-than-mediocre performance as the pound dispatcher. Bryan Cranston gives the best overall performance. This segment bares a semi-good storyline, but is missing ingenuity and quality. I like the fact that the `evil killer monkey' story is handled quite well, and there's enough blood for the average horror fan. This segment also has a good ending. It is the second best out of the three stories.

Overall score (for the segment BOBO): 7 ½ out of 10.

The final segment is `Come to Granny,' a somewhat scary story that ahs a somewhat scary villain (the only scary thing from the villain is his/her voice). This segment is the story that delivers the most horror, and DEFINITELY the most gore, but the story is almost third rate. Here's how it goes: The story's main character is Sean Goodwin (play by Will Estes), who has reoccurring premonitions of a psychotic serial killer who goes by the name `Granny Killer,' and who also where's an odd Grandma mask (which s a nice touch to the character). Every time the killer strikes, he sees them all. There really is no distinctive point to this story. The fact that the main character has premonitions kind of already bogs it down in terms of originality. This story, however, for some reason, can actually scare you. The villain is actually somewhat scary, mainly because of it's voice and appearance. The acting is somewhat good, but falls short of what Bobo had, the script, however, isn't good. It's loaded with clichés, and mediocre dialogue, but is still better than the first segment's story.

This segment, however, has the most gore out of each. It has amazingly awesome splatter affects, and very detailed and distinct make-up. Overall, this story is the most entertaining out of the three, and delivers the most horror out of all. This one is the best segment out of the three. Overall score (for the segment COME TO GRANNY): 8 out of 10.

Now, there's technically a fourth segment, which involves John Ritter's character and the couple, but it's not really a segment. John Ritter delivers a great performance, and creates a lot of character, however, the couple does not deliver a good performance. The ending is somewhat funny, just the thought of what's happening before the credits roll will make you laugh.

Overall, Terror Tract was one of the my favorite B-movie quality horror movies. It is not entirely a b-horror movie. Seeing it as a normal movie viewer, I give it a good score, but seeing it as a critic.Actually, I'm not a critic, so who gives a crap? The script varies from good to bad, it depends on which segment, and the story lines are good old fashioned campy horror. This film proves to be very entertaining. Also, view this movie with an open mind, it's meant for enjoyment and nothing else.

Also, this is my favorite John Ritter movie. May he rest in peace. My heart goes out to his friends and family. Rest in peace, John.

Overall score: 8 out of 10.

The ending is hilarious, but the rest is laughable.
Son_of_Mansfield7 April 2006
Warning: Spoilers
John Ritter plays a real estate agent who takes his job very seriously. He discloses all the gory details of three houses to the interested party. A cheating wife killed by the husband she thought was dead. A pet monkey that kills an entire family. A serial killer who dresses as a granny, but ain't no senior citizen. But the movie is surprisingly dull considering that a killer monkey and buckets of blood are involved. The end is the real treat. The couple decide that they don't want to live there, but John Ritter's boss(Satan?) wants new tenants. He tries to convince them by stabbing the husband with a pen. They run out side to see the pristine houses they passed on their way in are now the scenes of vicious killings and massive explosions. The three stories may be old and kinda dull, but the ending is worth the wait.
