This film (as many live-action versions of the story) uses the one-legged boy version of the Saci's myth, even though in the novel he is described as a tiny black gnome.
Olga Maria is the first child actress (and the first actress ever, following the production order, but the second actress after Lúcia Lambertini, in release order) to portray Emilia, the rag doll. The next one, Isabelle Drummond, would play the doll four decades later in the 2001 Rede Globo series Pirlimpimpim (2001).
Follows the novel series chronologically. Viscount of Sabugosa (the maize scientist toy) does not appear in this film since in the previous volume, "Reinações de Narizinho", he felt in the open sea and drowned to death.
Director Rodolfo Nanni was only 28 when he made this film upon his return to Brazil having studied film in Paris.
