Apparently this show isn't well-liked, but I remember vividly in middle school I would watch this and then "World's Wildest Police Videos" afterwards after coming home from school. I don't exactly know what draw I have to this show, but perhaps it's a tiny case of rubbernecking and sometimes the historical footage you get from the 70s or 80s. It isn't often that scores of people are killed in the footage, so in another sense this is basically "Stuff People have Miraculously Survived" which also makes for good TV. I know that sounds a bit shallow but what can you do. This is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I think I'm allowed to have just one when it comes to television.

I live in the middle of China so I don't get to see shows like this very often except when I'm back in the states visiting family, like now, but I've had a soft spot for these amazing videos shows ever since I first noticed how captivating live coverage of police chases in my native Los Angeles was, and then discovered COPS. I haven't seen more than maybe a dozen episodes of this show, but I've seen enough to know that the videos are often groan-inducing or genuinely frightening and are almost always ruined by the goofy narration. Like John Walsh's goofball, wildly over-dramatic narration of America's Most Wanted, the videos, even the really amazing ones, are almost always accompanied by laughable descriptions, which leave me with the feeling that if you took away phrases like bone crunching, or battered bodies, or narrowly escaped, or lucky to be alive, or watery grave, well, they just wouldn't have anything at all to say and wouldn't that just make for a completely different show. But either way, you can hardly do better for a lazy Sunday afternoon. If the show seems repetitive, you watch it too much. Otherwise, enjoy!

But what is the excitement in watching people in some of the most shocking and extremely life-threatening situations ever caught on tape or film?, is it because nobody involved dies? or is it the thought that "I'm lucky it didn't happen to me!"?
I'm saying that anyone who watches this show must be having either nerves of steel or is a complete Psycho!

A Pretty Underrated Reality Show(SPOILERS)

I know all of the disaster reality-shows. You name it, Maximum Exposure, Police Videos, Real TV, and Disorderly Conduct, and this. This one is actually a pretty good show. It has some very good music, the narration by Stacey Keach is very well done, and sometimes I actually feared for the person in the video's life, even though nobody ever dies.
Like I said, this is a disaster reality show, so this is the simple basis of the whole entire show. This show is basically showing viewers horrifying ordeals real people went through. For example, fire, explosion, flood, car crash, being stuck on a high object, and more. Luckily, like I said before, nobody dies. I really do not know why I am afraid, nobody dies, but they do get hurt. They also show classic videos. They are basically clips that everyone around the world knows.
Overall, this is a very well-done show. It has some very good action, and good suspense. The only problem I have is that some of the narration is way over dramatic. For example, if someone falls ten feet. the narrator says it was a horrifying plunge. Luckily, the person was unharmed and it is just fine. Actually, that is what some videos are about. Other than that this is a pretty good reality show.

This show is really terrible. The same-tone voice, "watch closely as this young lady came so close to death's door". For god's sake can't we watch a wholly unedited, unzoomed, unenlarged, un"slow-mo"ed video clip? The interviews are of no need! "What did you feel when the disaster stuck?" "I'm frightened!". Everyone knows that.
IMHO, Max-X was 1000 times better.

This show is probably one of the worst shows I've seen on the network. I have begun to even avoid its commercials because I still am astonished how its been on TV so long. This show is probably the worst thing I've seen in a decade. When I say bad... I MEAN BAD. The things done are mostly scripted and very repetitive. All there is, is riots and people beating other people up. I just don't understand how this show was even thought about putting it on air, because its just so bad. It's completely ridiculous. Out of 5 stars *****, I don't think I would even give it a star.

I feel sorry for those who have commented poorly on this programme. If you don't like to see thing getting blown up with a sinister sounding narrator in the background then get up off your fat one and change the bloody channel...OK!! I know it doesn't cater for anally retarded, stuck up their own holes, pieces of muck, but i'm sure you must be able to find something you like. And if you haven't noticed there was a Worlds most amazing videos 2, so there are people who enjoy it and would like very much if you stick to watching what you eat, cause i'm sure you are all most likely to be fatties! As for the show, i can't wait to go home tonight and watch it! Great show and hope there's another one on the way!

Yet another rehash of the network "How do we get as many rednecks to watch our station without actually doing anything ourselves" theory.
