Finally a good use for socks
joe-bohnenkamp18 September 2005
This show is so great. Shows like this only come once in a blue moon, and sadly, most American viewers don't get the wacky brilliance. This was one of the last MTV shows I was happy to see. There were so many great segments, most notably precious Roy and calls from the public. I also really enjoyed the main characters' totally inane conversations. It was hilarious in such an absurd way. So many of my friends I went to high school with also loved this show. It's too damn bad a show like this didn't get picked up by Comedy Central or Adult Swim, because those channels were better at dealing with more out of the box shows. It's surprising that no other shows have tried to do something like this, considering how little money it would cost to make

I need this show.

Okay, first of all I am not sure how this show isn't super popular right now. I feel like this show was way before it's time. The humor is amazing. And I need more of it. Please bring it back. Or at least release better quality and let me give you money for it.

Sifl & Olly RULE!
velocitymike18 November 2006
This show was bad ass! It would've been so AWESOME if they could've been on TV for more than two seasons. The parts of season 3 that I've seen were even better than the first two (on average). Cripes, there was so many funny things on that show, I miss it big time. I just about loved every character, but especially Sifl, Chester and Stealth. It's great how they had guests on like the devil, God, his arch angel (let me give a shout-out to all my ARCH ANGELS IN THE HOUSE!!!) Michael, Earth, Mars, the Sun, and jeez a whole lot more I can't think of now. When Chester beat Grout on Trivia Trapazoids I just about crapped my pants. "Why? Why?" Of all the songs they did, my favorite was when Olly just got back from Seattle and did that bad-ass punk song about how "HIS SO-CALLED LIFE IS JUST LAIM!!!" ROCK!!! That show rocked.

If *I* had a network, Sifl & Olly would be on it all the time.

I beg anyone and everyone who either worked on this show, or works for MTV- *please* bring it back, or release a set of videos!

*Ahem* One of the saving graces of MTV last year was this whacked-out sock-puppet show; I figure if MTV can't play music videos anymore, this is the next best thing.

Alas- like the State, Sifl & Olly apparently appealed to too few teenagers to be worth carrying; it hasn't been on the air for a while now.

The whole show smacked of what a couple of guys would do if they had access to a public access station, and a bag of pot. I can't really explain how the results would be appealing, but they were- this is one of the few shows that has ever made me cry because I was laughing so hard.

"Suckers!", the theme song, the name "Chester", drawings of the characters, Chester's voice- all of these became catch-phrases or common occurrences at work with my friends. We'd print out signs saying "Buy my waffles! SUCKERS!" and put them up where customers would see them (usually over a picture of Shel Silverstein, but that's another story). The guys behind Sifl & Olly probably didn't intend it this way, but they made out lives a lot more bearable.

The show needs to come back.

Crecent Fresh

Yes, this show had me busting a gut everytime I even thought about it. I too have friends that quote this show often...it was just so Crecent Fresh!

I would pay large amounts of money to see this show come to VHS or DVD. I have about six or seven episodes recorded but that is only a fraction of all the really funny stuff I remember and quote.

Yes, they're sock puppets but they have so much character and emotion for socks. The creators did a great job. You've got some serious ass, going to the bathroom problems, Sifl!

MTV really did do a crappy thing by cutting the show. Maybe Sifl & Olly didn't catch on because they were always changing the times and you never knew when they would be on.

"I don't know who you are, but I hear you spit far!"

Okay, to sum up, Sifl & Olly ROCK! MTV is just so un crecent fresh it makes me sick to my stomach.

"Cinders Blue, Cinders Blue, underneath your bed I stew! Eating children ages 6 through 8...I'm bad to the bone!"

There is a sifl & Olly website out there somewhere...maybe someday they will start selling videos...

Side-splittingly hilarious

In the grand tradition of WAYNE'S WORLD, two friends taping a cheap-looking show with the most generic elements of comedy is always the way to go. Two sock puppets (one white, the other dark green) and friends answer video calls from fans and sing wickedly funny musical numbers in the privacy of their own half-hour. Chester had very little to say and Precious Roy (my favorite character) delighted in selling children dangerous and useless contraptions. While this show was sadly short-lived, the memory of my favorite song "Even Bears Have Heart-attacks" will always ring true to my heart.

Makin' lotsa suckers outta girls n' boys

I used to watch this show with my grandmother when it was on. Everything about it was funny. Some of the particular parts that immediately stick out in my mind are the ones where Ollie sings about "the girl in the spooky car" (her name was Zanzibar), and the show where the robot sit-in sings "I Know What Boys Like" by the Waitresses. Precious Roy was of course a highlight because of his personality, but Calls From The Public was full of hilarious moments as well. And Chester was very cute. They really ought to revive this show, or at least show the reruns, on a network where it probably might be more appreciated and reach a wider audience, like Comedy Central.

An "Acquired Taste"
nycovom122 April 2001
The humour in this show didn't tickle everyone's funny bone, but

man, was it funny!!!! How can you NOT like a show where all the

characters are college dude-voiced sock puppets, anyway? One

thing I admired about this show is that it didn't depend so much on

gross-out gags for laughs, ala South Park and Beavis And

Butthead. The sets and the costumes were joyfully and

side-splittingly cheesy. How about the "Calls, calls, calls, calls

from the public" sock puppet with the giant phone dial behind him,

being whacked on the noggin with a phone receiver?!!? Again, not

everyone "got" the humour of this show, but for me anyway, it was

out-and-out truly off-the-wall hilarious. I now give a tip o' the hat to

Precious Roy: "Buy my waffles! You guys are SUCKERS!!!!"

Crescent fresh nostalgia!
archangeldom1 February 2003
Wow! I thought I would never hear of those wonderful sock puppets ever again! Even if I was only 11 at the time, I still enjoyed the songs, which made up the humor and charm of the show. I still can recall the 'Girl from Zanzibar' song: "Her name was Zanzibar, Z-Z-Z-Zanzibar!", Sifl banging on the pots and pans, and when the two interviewed the planet Mars. Those were great times! Though I can understand why MTV would cancel the show, it still is alive and kicking!

Vive Sifl and Olly!

This show really made me go insane. Not only is it hilariously funny, the voice of Olly (Liam Lynch) is really nice. Not to say that Sifl's voice (Matt Crocco) isn't. If you just watch it once, you'll "fall in love" with the regulars: Sifl (black sock), Olly (the white sock), Chester (a little guy who thinks he's so cool but he's kind of, um, not), and Precious Roy (the guy that Sifl and Olly sell stuff for. One time, they're actually selling Olly I'd buy him. ;D ). Sifl and Olly is a show that MTV really missed out on by taking it off the air. They should have given it more time.

TRUSTcompany199021 July 2003
Unfortunally, I never heard about the show until recently. I saw Liam Lynch's music video "My United States of Whatever!" The song was funny and short and never heard of Liam before. I looked him up and I read about him directing the Sifl and Olly show. I decided to download one of the episodes, and man was it funny. Sure, it takes up a lot of space, but I think it's worth it!

The Puppets Rocked

Most of MTV's original programming is hit or miss, but this was one of their best. The show was hilarious. However, like another poster hinted, it might have been too hip for the teenagers to get. Also, there had been complaints about some of the raunchy content (for example, the puppets interviewed an orgasm once), which I believe led to the show being toned down in later episodes. However, MTV made a mistake when it included videos in the show, and cut out a lot of the comedy. The show then looked too much like "Beavis and Butthead".

This show is absolutely hilarious. And I'm so sad that MTV has dropped shows like this one and kept TRL and Daria.

Sifl and Olly are great characters, and they're only socks. Chester is the best though. My favorite is the one where he watched Planet of the Apes the night before and wants a talking Cornelius monkey so they can talk about throwing bananas and girls. The show was really brilliant, and I'm looking everywhere for episodes. If you can find them, get them, they're worth the trouble.

This show is THE FUNNIEST SHOW you will ever see!

Where else can you witness sock puppets with amazing senses of humor (and great singing voices, to boot) interview planets, mushrooms, plants, and batteries? Nowhere.

Much like cheese, you have to experience it for yourself to understand it.

Best when Drunk
James-Durham22 July 2000
Im very fortunate at the moment that I live in Australia and Sifl 'n' Olly is on MTV on the optus cable network. I first glimpsed at this show about a month ago and was drawn to it straight away. After taping a whole bunch of episodes (and its still running) I find the best fun i can have ever is to knock back about twelve stubbies and watch sifl and olly.....whilst using the music breaks to go and grab another beer. Its a brillaint show, and I like Chester the best because he's always happy......kinda like Swan from 'Cannibal! The Musical'....and he eats sand

Id have to say Stealth is my favourite ....."IM A FAMILY MAN!!!!!!!!!!"

One of my favorite shows ever
Aranea-223 October 1999
"Sifl & Olly" always made me laugh. My friends and I bonded together with the show, giggling about the llama song and Chester getting girls by keeping cereal in his pocket and Olly pretending to be an inventor who created velvet and the dance floor. I made some recordings of the show, and I treasure them. I would love to see a "Sifl & Olly" VHS collection. To the guys who created the show -- great job! Please give us more imaginative programs.

Best-show-ever.

A lot of people give this show crap, but it is consistently 30 minutes of pure comedy brilliance. My all-time favorite episode is "Sex Girl" in which we the viewers get the guys a hooker. It is my personal opinion that if you put puppets in something, it automatically makes it better. This show is the reason puppets were invented. If you LOVE to laugh, find some episodes of it!

Why the show's so crescent fresh! (At least to me.)
Jim X17 May 1999
I can sum up this show in 2 words: Rockin' Socks!

This show's about a bunch of cool puppets, they like rock music, and they do a bunch of outrageous skits. It's easily one of the funniest shows currently on TV, at all I can think of to say right now is to WATCH IT! > ROCK!

Demented fun for free thinkers
JPaparella18 February 2003
This show, which I haven't seen broadcast here in the United States for several years now, was very refreshing. Alot of my friends who should have enjoyed this show could not get over the fact that the show stars sock puppets. The puppets are actually very clever. The puppetry is also very good. The humor is irreverent, free wheeling, touches a wide range of topics, and threatens to dissolve into nonsense at any moment. Indeed, one of the creators best tricks is to make you think just such a thing is happening, and then to have the characters respond to it and pull it back from the brink, or burst out in seemingly spontaneous laughter when they fail to do so. If you are Ok with sock puppets, you will like this show. My only criticism is that when I watch my taped episodes, a few are somewhat dated now.

My God This Show Rocks!!!!

a most underrated tv show, this and the show Daria are the only redeeming things on MTV. This show is just so trippy, also hysterical, and just plain rocks. Sadly, i don't think its even on anymore, but when it was on oh man it was great!

Bear Territory?

Are these the same guys that did the UC Berkeley "Bear Territory" show on Bay Area TV in the early nineties? Anybody got any old episodes? That show was pretty funny, too. I think they even got naked on the air once.
