"Meshok yablok" or "A Bag full of Apples" is a Soviet 19-minute animation movie from over 40 years ago. The protagonist is a rabbit who collects a bag full of apples, but none of it is left after he has to help out all other hungry farm animals. Now what is he going to get his wife and all his children. He has to go again to get more apples. Unfortunately a wolf is waiting and the weather gets worse as well. However, his previous acts of kindness to not go without a reward and his animal friends bring all kinds of delicacies to his family. I thought this was a funny little watch. There are a few questionable situations, like when all the apples fall out of the sack and he does not realize the change in weight, but as a whole this is certainly worth a watch. Mostly for children or those young at heart, because the two antagonists are not really evil either. The wolf is too clumsy to be a real scary villain and the crow is really just more of a troll. Animals are very common in Soviet animation, especially animals with human characteristics such as the ability to speak and this is another quality movie from the genre. Bordzilovsky and Suteyev were already near the end of their careers when they made this one in the 1970s and they definitely proved that they still have a decent amount of talent. Thumbs up, I recommend this one.
