A fantastic piece of cinema

This is definitely some of Bryunchugin and Prut's best work. The acting was phenomenal, particularly that of Viktor Audyushko as Marto and the great Boris Bezgin as the idiot. Audyushko's trademark bullet shaped head and beady eyes are perfect for the role of Marto. He must have known him in person to create such an accurate resemblance. Further comment would require giving away the plot, which I don't want to do, particularly the surprise ending for which the film is known. Everyone should watch this movie, particularly if they speak Russian and are eager to be converted to communist ideals via the epic story of Marto.
