This is another under the radar gem, though not exactly as it was a hit in the arcades at the time but has become forgotten overtime.
Not much I can says about the game, the game is a shump but what I like is it's one that one the ground which I don't see much as most of them are always ones that take place in the air or space, I always like it whenever they put it on the ground it's a nice change of pace. But also what's unique about the game is it's also a platform action game combined as you have a jump function basically similar to the arcade game "Moon Patrol" (story for another time).
The graphical presentation is solid as usual with my one of my beloved video game companies' "Data East". Really like how the environments are detailed and rendered but also the design of your vehicle and some of the enemy vehicles in the way.
The control is solid and basic as you are a vehicle that is constantly rolling but you can control your speed. I always thought that was cool, whenever I play the game, I sometimes pretended I'm playing a "G. I. Joe" based game, I'm rolling in one of their assault vehicles and blowing away the Cobras. Or even the TV show "Knight Rider" just in pursuit mode and hitting the Turbo Boost when needed. I even like the music tune that plays in each of the levels, it's a good track that's a bit catchy as it really gives you the feel of rolling action.
Just like with "Moon Patrol" the game you can say is almost a momentum physics and timing puzzle by its nature as you are constantly on a roll going from point A to B. But one thing that makes the game unique is that instead of the two-dimensional format here you work with three dimension (or the illusion of it) which means you able to move left and right on wide road when you need to, which is good because it gives you more trajectory planes to work with and use to your advantage.
Yes, this game is on the hard side, but that's because the game is really short so it's common they would be on the difficult track. Just like in game like "Ghoul's N Ghosts" each of the levels are different which makes the task going from point A to B all the trickier, it's based on the principle of not expecting to get it right on the first go.
So, you may find yourself making the same mistake or many mistakes repeatedly, which may give you a twinge of frustration. But that's not a bad thing as most of the time the mistakes are mainly your own and the loss just mean you must do better next time around or figure out what you did wrong and correct your mistake; personally, I like games that do that is as they both test and teach you to sharpen your skills.
Also, the game really isn't as hard as it seems like with a lot of them when you play though it again it becomes a little easier as you know the right places to go and what to do at the right times.
Overall, it's a solid vintage game, though this is the kind of game I mainly would recommend to anyone that loves hard retro games and wants a challenge, this game is worth a test drive.
