I miss the older seasons
askeland8930 July 2021
It's hard for me to rate this show. When looking back at the older seasons it seems to me like Seth and his crew had fun writing and voicing the characters. Occasionally there were musical numbers thrown into the mix, songs I know by heart and will forever be stuck in my head. Such as "Shipoopi" and "It's a wonderful day for pie"

We hardly get any of this nowadays. The gags are nowhere near as complex or funny as they used to be.

Seems to me like the only reason this show is still running is because there is money involved and because some people ( like me ) are naive enough to keep watching even tho it's not what it used to be.

I'm not angry at the state of this show, but it's sad to see what it's been reduced to.

A once good show that declined in quality
AIMDBChannel18 March 2022
Family Guy used to be a very good show, with a certain charm to it. Even the cutaways and Brian Griffin were good back then, but as time goes on and on, Family Guy just keeps getting worse and worse. Many of the characters have gone downhill, such as Peter, who used to be hilarious. I would have given this show an 8/10, but the show's newer seasons are pretty bad, so I have to give it a 7/10.

One of my favourite shows of all time
c-6032527 September 2023
This and South Park are shows that master dark comedy and satire.

It is very well written, the jokes are good and land (most of the time).

The voice actors in this show are incredible, the Griffin's voices are iconic and have their moments.

On the other hand, after season 13 it really fell apart, the episodes aren't nearly as funny and are basically the same, they barely make any Brian and Stewie episodes (which are the best episodes).

Unlike South Park, it doesn't get better with age, it isn't as culturally relevant (even when it shouldn't be) and feel boring and painfully unfunny.

Seasons 1-13: great Seasons 14-present: no, just no.

Hilarious

Family Guy is absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best comedies I've ever seen! It's been on the air for almost 20 years now and it's still just as funny today as it was when it first started, more so in some cases. This is an animated show that's definitely made for adults as some of the humor may not be for children. I would recommend watching the dvd's or steaming it instead of watching it on network tv because you get to hear all swear words and cut out scenes that were too much for network tv. There are just so many great characters on Family Guy that I can't even begin to name them all. This is one of the comedies where you can watch the reruns as many times as you want and it's still hilarious!

Stoners much watch this
sidneycannell-8121627 January 2022
My boyfriend would play it here and there and I ran out of TV shows so I thought I would try it. I've now re watched it multiple times and when I smoke I would rather be in my bed watching it then anywhere else on earth. It's a show for people who can take a joke and not get offended so if your one of those people definitely give it a shot!

Seth MacFarlane, YOU'RE A GENIUS!!
loismustdie12528 February 2005
I cannot even begin to discuss how ridiculously smart and outrageously funny is this show. Not only does this program far surpass most of the comedies on television, it has the guts to hit topics that most of the overly sensitive public shies away from. I never understood why it was taken off the air in the first place. Fox can show something as tawdry and humanly degrading as Temptation Island, but Family Guy was too racy? Riiiight.

I absolutely must comment on the incredible voice talent done for this show, most especially the amazing creator himself, Seth MacFarlane. First of all, his versatility is unlike anything I have ever heard. When I discovered how many voices he actually performed, I was floored. I am currently receiving my masters in speech pathology so I find his ability particularly interesting. Not only can he speak in these individual voices, he can sing in them, and very well I might add.

The musical numbers in this cartoon revive a dying art. The "Road" episodes are a hysterical throw back to the Crosby/Hope movies, which is a reference I usually have to explain to my friends though they often must explain a few that I miss. In fact, the scope of the references range from cheesy 80's TV to political commentary to Broadway. This is why everyone will find something funny about this show. Everyone in one form or another can relate to it.

Most of my guy friends think I should be offended by the show because I am a woman and this is a "guy's show." Let me tell you, this is not the case at all. Lois Griffin is a freakin role model. I like to think I have half of her savvy when dealing with my ignorant boyfriends.

Absolutely excellent television. Edgy, funny, intelligent and extremely creative. This show was a breath of fresh air for mundane television and will soon awaken the network again. Seth MacFarlane, you are a genius!!

Like many, it has fallen into a downfall spiral.
maxi-bell24 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Well, Family Guy has garnered my attention, until recent years.

Like many shows, it has taken a serious dip in quality. I found the more recent episodes/seasons have been more political, and less about the characters.

I remember watching a recent episode, and then watching the very first episode, 'Death has a Shadow'... Did I then realize that the show isn't once what it was...

I loved the earlier seasons, as it was Family Guy the way it was meant to be... Offensive, disgusting, crude, you name it. This show has taken a step away from that, and that was the very thing I loved about the show.

Don't get me wrong, there a couple good episodes in the newer seasons, such as 'Road to Multiverse', or 'Back to the Pilot', but I wish the newer seasons were more consistent in good content, such as the latter and/or the former.

As a Family Guy fan, I recommend only watching up to season 4. Anything past season 4 is where the quality takes a dive.

The first 4 seasons are pure comedy gold.

Regardless of the lackluster quality in newer seasons, my thoughts in seasons 1-4 are that the show is fantastic. It is the reason why I give this a show a watch, and a high rating. The characters are so crude, and humorous, that I remember almost losing my breath, since I would laugh so much.

The parts that 'kill' me, are when Peter would have flashbacks or made up thoughts in his head about prospects of his life... Pure genius.

If you are a person that wants to watch this, again, I would only watch up to the end of season 4. Past that is mostly irrelevant.

Another Halloween Episode
Beautyperfect4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Family Guy should have another Halloween episode called The Griffins on Zombie Island a reference to Scooby Doo on Zombie Island this episode will contain ghosts and zombies.

Lois decides to take the whole family to a remote Island for the summer but they get more than they bargain for when Peter, Lois, Stewie, Brian, Meg and Chris encounter real live zombies. But the question is will they get off the Island alive. This episode I think needs to be a one hour special. It could be the second time the Griffins encounter spooky stuff but this time it's on a haunted Island.

This episode will be in season 24 of Family Guy. Believe me there will be laughs and scares for the fans. Meg, Stewie and Brian becoming heroes in this Halloween episode would be sweet as candy.

RhythmMakoto2 June 2020
In the old day Family Guy had clever jokes, interesting characters and it was well... FUNNY! After like 2011 it was just dull humor that is just there to shock the audience nothing was left of how family guy was. i give it 6 stars because of the old days but i cant give it 9 stars as i would normally because these episodes are an insult to the cartoon medium

Addictive but lazy cartoon that's ultimately forgettable
DrWillHatch24 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
When Family Guy first premiered, I was not in a discriminating mood. With the 1990s containing a wealth of clever, surreal cartoons, why should I be? Nickelodeon produced Doug; Ren and Stimpy and Rockos Modern Life among other fine cartoons(Yes, this includes Spongebob). All had quirky, dreamlike animation and surprisingly sophisticated stories and dialog. The Simpsons became an outright phenomenon, perhaps not as brilliant as its biggest defenders claim it to be, but a very fine investment of your time and certainly dismisses the false axiom that all TV is junk. South Park started out as a crude but hilarious attack on everything with unique and intelligent satire underneath. It evolved to become a Monty Python- esquire show with outrageous concepts and brutally swift and sharp societal critiques(Such as their defense of the noble underpants gnomes) and eventually settled to be entirely self referential and "meta" like the Simpsons did, and has unfortunately jumped the shark. Family Guy is superficially like The Simpsons and South Park. It pushes buttons and is a favorite among college students and bestiality enthusiasts. However, what it has in loquacity it lacks in true wit.

The show is famous for its use of gimmicks, especially for flashbacks. Many are references to bad TV sitcoms or commercials. Some are funny(Especially from the first two seasons), most are not. Are references inherently funny? I'm not sure, but they are mostly what the show stands on considering that its characters are painfully uninteresting. Where Homer and Bart have charm, and Cartman has an artillery of self awareness and pure outrageousness to back up his awful behavior, Peter Griffin has no excuse. He's just a loud, obnoxious pig. Anything funny coming from his character is only because the writers forget how to be unfunny that day. Lois is also very shallow and dull; Meg is a prop, only to be abused; Chris is borderline retarded and only occasionally funny, and the two main stars of the show(Stewie and Brian) are so inconsistent in their characterizations that it all really kind of pointless.

Other gimmicks I can't stand are when a character points to something obviously and lingers on it for an uncomfortably long time. This happens a lot lately, and I can't bear it any longer. Not just the oft mentioned chicken that likes to beat Peter up, I'm talking about the painful moments where they talk about pop culture and prod it as if they are alien spectators. That's not wit or even ironic humor, it's totally boring and lifeless.

Not that the show can't be funny, in fact some of the earlier episodes had me rolling. Highlights include the pilot episode, where Peter loses touch with reality after losing his precious television; when Peters religious zealot father shows up and wreaks havoc; When Peter becomes a narc at Megs school, and the "pancake" episode. I suspect these are the episodes that accidentally incorporated actual human traits in its characters, or merely were times the writers had actual comedic inspiration.

One last thing, the show is not offensive. It's only offensive to those who wouldn't watch the show in the first place, so it's almost like a circle jerk to the choir of hipsters.

Family Guy Is The Best TV Show
georgipodskokniev1 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I like the show so much, because of the comedy and the adult jokes.

It gives me a nostalgic feeling for some reason.

Definitely one of the best TV shows.

The artists in the show are voice acting very good.

The show contains violence, but it's Okay.

In age rating I will rate it 9+ or something like this.

If community of that show sees this I wish you to make more seasons and episodes.

Thanks for everything you made!

Also thanks for creating my childhood.

I will be very happy if I met one of the artists of the show and get autograph. My favorite artist is The voice actor of Peter Griffin.

Cringe Comedy at its Best!
jackpacmanw20 October 2023
If you want an edgy as well as offensive version of The Simpsons, then Family Guy would be your answer!

What exactly is Family Guy you may ask? Well, let me, the one and only John Woodruff, tell you what Family Guy is all about.

Family Guy is the greatest thing my idol, Seth MacFarlane, has ever made. Mr. MacFarlane wanted to make his own version of The Simpsons but make it more offensive. And he successfully did it!

Stewie, Meg and Brian are usually my favorite characters from this adult cartoon.

I am also proud of myself for watching every single episode on TV.

Screw its haters! Family Guy is gonna stay on the television screen whether we like it or not!

That's all I'd like to say.

Countless laughs over the years
totalork28 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have been watching family guy since I was a teenager, and there have always been episodes that just crack me up so I think this show deserves its 10 star rating. I do not actually like the Simpsons which i know alot of people compare this to, but I like alot of Seth Mcfarllens projects with family guy being my favorite. I still remember laughing in a group of my friends when we watched the episode with them all throwing up for a competition not realizing what would happen... me and my friends were literally rolling on the ground. And then the first time I saw peter fall down a flight of stairs a bunch of times it made me die laughing. That dosnt even include all the cringe comedy this show has that makes my jaw drop but still laugh. Its a great show to have on in the background while I sleep now and the later seasons are still funny but not as classic to me.

Family Guy 1st greatest comedy of all time
Cityboymccleary620 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I find Family Guy my absolute number 1 favorite comedy next to American Dad and King of the Hill 2 of my other favorite comedies. I absolutely believe the animated sitcom will officially be rewritten as of May 5th 2024. Family Guy will focus on 18 main characters. The Main Characters will include Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Meg Griffin, Lois Griffin, Peter Griffin, Joe Swanson, Cleveland Brown, Glenn Quagmire, Olivia Fuller, Jillian Russell, Patty Patterson, Ruth Rutherford, Esther Esthederm, Neil Goldman, Connie D'amico, Tom Tucker and Diane Simmons.

The Griffins and their friends will go on crazy adventures together.

Angela Everwood is not only Peter's boss but she is his mentor. Connie lives with her father Principal Shepherd.

It would be very romantic to see Stewie and Olivia being a baby genius couple, I would also really love to see Brian the talking dog and Jillian Russell the human girl being a romantic book writer couple. Meg, Patty, Ruth and Esther hanging out and working at the Sub Hub would be very interesting. Peter, Cleveland, Quagmire and Joe hanging out at the clam would be outrageous.

Tom and Diane work at the channel 5 Quahog news station would also be heart warming. Ruth lives with her mom name Angela.

Of course the recurring characters will include Loretta Brown, Bonnie Swanson, Angela Everwood, Principal Shepherd, Ollie Williams, Pouncey the talking cat, Mort Goldman, Tricia Takanawa, Beth Bethany, Ernie the Giant Chicken, Evil Monkey, Babs Pewterschmidt and Carter Pewterschmidt.

Dr. Hartman, Kevin, Bruce Straightman, Dylan Flanagan, Derek, Muriel Goldman, Stan Thomson-Fuller and Carol-West Fuller will be in a few episodes. A few means less.

Kevin Swanson's character name will change to Kevin Herbert and Dylan Flanagan's character name will change to Jake Straightman Bruce's son.

Only 8 characters will be killed off in the show like Derek Wilcox, Muriel Goldman, Adam West, Tricia Takanawa, Thelma Griffin, Francis Griffin, Stan Thomson-Fuller and Carol-West Fuller. Kevin will leave the show after season 15, he will only appear in one episode in seasons 2, 5 and 15.

Other characters like Cool Aid Man, Herbert the pervert, Consuela De La Morrela, Jake Tucker, Mr. Weed and Seamus will be removed and forgotten.

Tom and Diane get married and adopt Olivia in season 9. Olivia Fuller's character name will change to Penelope Tucker after the first episode of season 9. Jillian Russell's character name will change to Britney Wilcox in season 10.

Family Guy is a memorable show.

Friends and family have a right to privacy.

18 main characters will be treated as outcasts, becoming heroes and a family.

Rachel Macfarlane will recast Diane Simmons as of season 9 and beyond just like Arif Zahir recasting Cleveland Brown as of season 18 and beyond. Christine Lakin will also recast Angela Everwood as of season 14.

Eventually the main characters will get recasted in future seasons.

Family Guy will full crossover episodes of American Dad and King of the Hill would be great. In 2026 Family Guy, American Dad and King of the Hill will become 1 crossover series called American Guy of the Hill.

Peter Griffin, Joe Swanson, Cleveland Brown, Glenn Quagmire, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Jillian Russell, Olivia Fuller, Diane Simmons and Connie D'amico are the only characters who can stop Chris Griffin from causing so much trouble.

Stewie, Brian, Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Connie, Olivia, Jillian, Joe, Cleveland, Quagmire, Patty, Ruth, Esther, Neil, Tom and Diane will enjoy family dinners at the Griffin House. The recurring characters will support the 18 main characters of the show.

Seth Macfarlane you are a genius of making things happen please make it as cake that will make the fans and me feel good.

(My new review is better than the one I made on September 28th except a few changes in this review.)

Stewie Rules
dinsmoretrevor14 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
When anyone asks me what my all-time favorite TV show is...I tell them 'Family Guy'. It is the most politically incorrect cartoon to ever come along. There are some that have been this bad, but they never lasted. For example, 'Brickleberry' or 'Bordertown' are as rude and nasty, but didn't have anywhere near the longevity of 'Family Guy'.

Peter Griffin HAS to be the stupidest, most ignorant man to ever live. How he got Lois Pewter Smith to even look at him, let alone marry him is a miracle of modern science. Their kids, Meg and Chris are both a total mess. And the baby, Stewie has dreams of world domination and wants to murder his Mom. The talking dog, Brian has his stuff wired tighter than all of the humans in the family, put together. I give it a 10 out of 10. Thanks and ENJOY!!

Funny, has great potential to be the next Simpsons
zebra31 January 1999
I think the writers did a great job on the add-ins with the Kool-Aid "Oh, yeah" and the "Caca for kookoopuffs". Yet I think that the Father should be given more of a character. I think he should be more defined as a person. He doesn't really stick in my mind that well. Stewie is the greatest. He is the funniest character on television I have seen in years. I think he should be the main star of the show. This show definitely gives the amount of laughs a half hour should give but please don't substitute it for The Simpsons.

The Circus
ryanworld3212 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I like the episode where Meg got kidnapped in Leggo my Meg-O, I would like to see another kidnapping episode like Road to the Circus in season 23 another Brian and Stewie episode. This time I would like to see Brian and Stewie getting kidnapped by the Ring Master from the Circus and forced to become freaks. Meg, Patty, Ruth and Esther witnessed their abduction. Meg and her friends became over weight in order to blend in with circus and rescue them before Lois and Peter finds out that would be a very good episode.

I want another kidnapping episode but this time it will be Brian and Stewie, I would also Meg, Patty, Ruth and Esther becoming heroines in this episode. Meg blanks out Stewie and Brian's memory at the end of the episode.

Losing its edge
Tonyboy26 September 2005
While I know that I run the risk of being chased out of town for saying this, I feel that since the beginning of Season 5, the show has lost its edge.

90% of the jokes in "Family Guy" fall into one of 3 categories: 1) Jokes making fun of pop culture (especially old TV shows and celebrities) 2) Gags that run so long that they become absurd 3) Flashbacks, most of the time introduced with "This is more ___ than that time I ___"

I'm sure that a lot of people find this stuff funny, but after 4 seasons with this kind of humour, it just becomes so expected that it ends up being routine. This doesn't do it for me.

I still like this show and I think it has a lot of potential, but it needs some new ideas!

Love the series
yashmehendale25 February 2024
The series is so hilarious. I love that Peter Griffin got a Fortnite skin and collab. Love the satirical humor it uses.

Peter Griffin's Bird is the Word episode is my fav episode in the series. The emote even got introduced in Fortnite.

I also loved the Blue Harvest because it parodies the OT really cool.

Stewie is also my fav character because of the cool time travel stuff, funny stuff, and he has a 5000 IQ.

I also love that the series was inspired by Simpsons; even had a crossover with both the Griffins and the Simpsons.

I also love Quagmire's Giggity Giggity Goo line because it is so hilarious.

Family Guy needs more Meg episodes
mcclearyr-422739 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the main characters is Meg Griffin I would like to have more Meg episodes like Stewie, Brian, Lois and Peter.

Meg going on adventures with her friends Patty, Ruth and Esther would very good for the fans in Family Guy.

I would like to see Meg, Patty, Ruth and Esther become gay in future seasons even when Family Guy season 1-22 and beyond gets rewritten.

Meg will go on another with Stewie and Brian in the next season after season 22.

I would love have Meg being treated better by Lois and Peter.

I want Meg Griffin being Gay to Patty, Ruth and Esther.

Meg, Patty, Ruth and Esther working at the Sub Hub would be amazing.
