Superb documentary
grantss3 September 2016
The making of Fleetwood Mac's album Rumours in 1976/77. We see the history of the band until that point, the internal struggles and the creativity involved. Included are interviews with all five band members: Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and John McVie.

Superb documentary. Well researched and well presented. We don't just see the making of the album but the backstory to it - the band's history to that point and, in particular, what was going on in their lives at that point.

The writing of each song is covered in detail and it is a wonderful insight into the creative process and the sheer creativity of the band members.

Interviews are relevant and illuminating - no "experts" just being cheerleaders.

A must-watch for anyone who cares about good music.

Classic Albums: Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1997)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and others involved with the album "Rumours" are interviewed about it's troubled creation, most of which came from bad break-ups that were going on within the band. If you're familiar with the series then you'll know what to expect as members of the band, engineers and others associated with the album talk about every step of the creation process. Pretty much they go through every song and talk about how it was written, the music added and how it took its place on the album. This here is another good episode, although there's certainly a lot more bedroom talk than many of the other shows. This is to be expected since all the personal drama that was going on in the band really helped the album make it what it is. The band members talk about the bad break-ups and how most people go away from one another when their relationships are over but they couldn't do that because they were together for hours a day in the studio. We also get to hear the various sound mixes and how they were put together to create the final songs. Fans of the album or the group in general should be entertained by the stories.

It's a great film about a great album. There's some really granular detail about the making of the songs and the stories going on behind the scenes. Plenty to entertain and amuse fans. Recommended.
