The motif of identity change appears in a number of Václav Vorlícek's works, for example in You Are a Widow, Sir! (1971), The Girl on a Broomstick (1972), Three Wishes for Cinderella (1973), How About a Plate of Spinach? (1977), The Prince and the Evening Star (1979), Arabela (1980) or Létající Cestmír (1983).
Václav Vorlícek regretted his decision to cast Petr Nározný and Oldrich Kaiser in the lead roles. Although he had good experiences with both of them from previous collaborations, it turned out that each of them had a completely different rhythm and style of comedy acting, which caused considerable problems in the part of the plot when their characters switch their identities and speak in each other's voices.
According to Václav Vorlícek, screenwriter Václav Nývlt insisted on filming his script without further rewrites, which was the reason why Vorlícek's usual collaborator Milos Macourek was not involved this time.
Actor Petr Nározný has appeared in a number of films and TV series directed by Václav Vorlícek, but this is the only time he has played a leading role.
