Drama about the relationship between a mother and a son. While actress Sofia (Francesca Neri) rehearses "Othello," she abruptly discovers that the play's director and her long-time lover Bruno Maier (Rade Serbedzija) is gay. The shock leads Sofia to consider suicide, until she discovers an abandoned baby. Soon she adopts the child and names him Bruno. Five years later, Sophia and Bruno are touring with an acting troupe that specializes in performing for school kids. Later, Bruno is 15 and is confused and angry. He longs to know who his father is, and he suspects that Sophia is not his real mother. When tension reaches a head, the two go on a road trip to find his biological mother. This is the plot what I would like to add is that the performance of Rade Serbedzija is wonderful. He portrays Bruno Maier with such and autenticy that could be enrolled in a best performance I've seen. He is not such an ass**** as Richard Gere that when he has to cry they have to put ONIONS in his eyes. His tears are autentical. Those bambinos performances are great too and what can we say about Francesca Neri, she tries to do her best but she is CREDIBLE too. A great photography, a great music, a great scenario and a great brother of Bernardo completes this beautifully scenario. I want to confess that I couldn't cry but most of the audience was crying. Get rid of your ideas and go and see this movie. Enjoy.

The quest of a mother for her abandoned child in contemporary Italy.

The search of a mother for her abandoned child in contemporary Italy. A fascinating movie which combines the essential quests for an unknown child/mother with the mirror effects of actors playing (theater) actors. Beautifully filmed with original lighting and colours not unlike those found "Diva" and "In the mood for love".
