Anyone know of a DVD release?
cpage-527 July 2009
So what's with Hewland Intl not grasping the capitalist concept of DVD releases? Boatloads of US fans of the show are dying to see the rest of the series (FSC only aired 3 of them, torture!) and DVD seems to be a total money-maker for Hewland if only they'd agree to do it! I've emailed them and they don't get it. "Why would fans want a DVD, just watch the show." Um, because it's not being broadcast anymore you morons! Good grief, I've never encountered a TV producer who didn't want to make money.

Anyone else encounter this with Dream Team/Hewland?

I've found a guy online who sells what appears to be bootlegs and he says he has region 1 coded DVDs with menus and all. But I'm squeamish about spending $50 US for something that in this day and age could land me in jail. (do I have my 10 minimum lines yet?)

Greatest fictional football drama ever!
Yacquaman7 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, i have been watching this since around 1998, when i just got into football. I enjoy it so much and to this day still watch it all the time. The series is spectacular and always ends in it's usual cliffhanger finale. this is the most realistic fictional football program around, they actually use real footage from matches that have passed recently, but they do alter the colour of one of the teams to the traditional purple of Harchester United (name of fictional team). This however isn't simply about a team who goes out week-in week out and play football, NO! it is more. This series goes inside the team and features insane plots, like coach explosions, faking racist abuse so that the team goes through. Dream team contains some odd story lines but it is the odd story lines that makes this a success.

Good series, despite the poor scripts

Warning: Spoilers
Dream Team was generally a good series, however the writing was rather unimaginative. They killed off far too many great characters and it affected my enjoyment of the series. Death scenes only entertain you a certain number of times.

I found the end of the final episode rather disappointing. A long running series deserves a better send off. I felt the fire was too predictable, it was always heading towards a depressing end. Miserable stories are all the writers ever seemed capable of.

I know a happy ended may have been corny, but when Sully decided not to burn down the stadium I thought at least no one would die. However it's obvious that a few character would have died because Katy burned down the stadium when she dropped her cigarette.

Having said that, the actors coped well with these dreary story lines and the match footage was very realistic.

There were many great characters who will be remembered for years. It was certainly a better series than Hollyoaks or Eastenders.

Terrific Stuff

This series is terrific stuff. I've been watching it since it started and have been hooked since the first episode. The series follows a made-up Midlands football team called Harchester United, it shows drama on and off the pitch. There are lovable good guys and villainous baddies. There is great acting and a wonderful script with enough twists and turns to fill at least 5 Hitchcock movies. There are loads of great actors which have since starred in other network TV programmes (Ramon Tikaram-ITV's 'Daylight Robbery'). If you have sky 1, tune in when it's next on, whoever you are, you'll be hooked.

Oh how I miss Dream Team as this was a fantastic series and the fact it's not even on dvd or any format to watch it's a crime in itself . I just wish this was available to watch again & tbh I forgot about Craig in this playing Terry Rose . Craig get onto the makers of this and get this released ! Brilliant show to be apart of.

The best soap ever
MrsAnthonyHowell23 August 2002
Dream Team is Eastenders, but at the ground of a football team. Since it began in 1997, it has run for five series and the sixth is on it's way. It was made for Sky One and focuses on the on and off pitch antics of members of fictional Premiership side Harchester United and their friends, girlfriends and even wives. It is really good because it is really realistic, unlike Footballer's Wives, Dream Team employs real footballers to play the extras of the team, (Danny Husbands, Peter Mack...) and they have real football conslutants. In an average episode, they show some real game footage, doctored to have purple shirts for Harchester. Off the pitch the stories are realistic and the acting is superb, particularly Terry Kiely (Karl Fletcher) and Alison King (Lynda Block) Watch this show if you want to know how a football club works, or if you want to see that footballer's lives aren't all fame and fortune.....

One Of The Greatest Show's About
Fletch_1124 June 2003
Dream Team, is full of such dramatic twist's and great cliffhangers it's a show you must see. It is on a Summer break at the minute but currently show's repeats during Midday. Dream is all about a Football Team called Harchester United which sometimes struggle in the Premier Leauge but seem to well in trophies like the F.A Cup and the U.E.F.A Cup. Series 7 is due to start in September/October time where they find who is the clubs new owner, which should be good.

Sometimes enthralling but it's seen better days
mfkickabout13 November 2003
It's a show that sharply divides opinion. A show that, is undoubtedly, utter rubbish. However, that is the appeal of the show - it's so ridiculous and overblown that it makes it an enthralling watch.

The show has seemed to have run out of ideas in recent years and the whole "fan wins the lottery and buys club" thing took it a little to far away from the good silliness and over to storylines that were trying to be more football-based. Who cares about the newer storylines of dodgy transfer dealings when you've had storylines where the chairman hired somebody to shoot his star player, who was carrying on with his wife? It also went to the well too many times with the "crash wipes out half the team" concept. Very few players die while playing for a club, maybe one every three to four years and that's spread across the whole of Britain.

I think the series has definitely seen better days; better storylines, better actors and better production values. However, to borrow a phrase from original Harchester manager Ron Atkinson, "in it's pomp" it was a very enjoyable series. If they ever repeat series three and four, warm up the video.

Dream Team is the greatest show on Sky One
ahjs.jericho13 April 2000
Well Dream Team is on its third series and nearly going to its forth.

Its great so far. Always you've got the love triangles between Jerry Block, Lynda Block and Luis Amor Rodriguez and Ann Patterson with ex - Liverpool man Scott Lucas. The on field you have the talented Italian/English joker supreme in Eddie Moliano. Also Ray Wyatt is in the hot seat now. Marilyn (Now gone), Roger and Sandra are all busy at the Dragon's Lair and with a friendship in Didier Baptiste, Billy O'Neill and Wes Kingsley you can't give this show a miss. And Karl Fletcher just tops it all off!!!

Dream Team

I'd just like to comment on the absolutely fantastic series called 'Dream Team' on Sky 1. The show has just finished its second series and it is still going well. I have just finished watching the second series finale and I must say that it was an absolutely fantastic episode. Harchester United played Manchester United in the FA Cup Final. Harchester beat Man U 2-1 and the hero of the day was 'Luis Amor Rodriguez'. But, who got shot???

fan of footie or not - its a must see
westminster_uni2 January 2002
Harchester United a midlands football team and its goings on - thats what its about. But you see how its run, what goes on with the players and there worlds, there is a tiny bit of actual football on the pitch but it adds to the story line. If your a fan of football, your going to love it, if your not a fan of the great game (yes i am bias) then you'll equally like it. IF YOU DON'T WATCH IT YOUR MISSING OUT !

What has happened to Dream Team in Series 9?
mde-1012 March 2006
This used to be one of the best dramas on TV, but the current series has lost its way!

There has been an obvious reduction in the budget, but what has happened to the fantastic characters like Carl Fletcher, Don Barker and Curtis?

The current plot seems too heavily oriented around off the pitch action, and very tenuous story lines (Eugene wanting to play Football for Australia?)

Also, when are they going to give poor Naomi Ryan some proper lines and let her smile a little? She was compelling on-screen in Mile High, but looks all lost at sea in the present season of Dream Team.

I'll keep watching, but only because of Julie Healy! Let's hope the next series gets back to the previous highs :)
