Wonderful little surprise of a movie; good plot, great acting!

THE SECRET LIFE OF ALGERNON is a surprise gem. It is a well acted, understated, and suspenseful black comedy reminiscent of Ambrose Bierce’s best stories. Algernon is an eccentric recluse, the great grandson of a famous Egyptologist. His lonely life is interrupted by the sudden appearance of two mysterious characters, one a friend from youth, the other a beautiful woman who claims to be an Egyptologist. Bizarre happenings begin, and Algernon deals with problems in very interesting ways.

Is Algernon crazy or "attuned"? See the movie and decide. The movie has action, and enough twists and puzzles to satisfy fans of mystery and suspense movies. I'd rate this 7 out of 10 stars.

Charming, warm and slightly twisted... my kind of movie!

We recorded this to "watch later". When that time came, I was busy as the credits rolled and didn't see the Title. Not knowing which movie was playing, I had no preconceptions about it.

I was very pleased with this gently-paced story of Algernon (an older man portrayed so very well by John Cullum) who lives quietly until several individuals effect his life. Both the circumstances and his viewpoint of the events are believable; his reasoning as to how to solve the resulting dilemma shows a simple, wonderful logic.

I strongly recommend this movie... an 8 on my scale.

This Is A Great Sleeper!

I saw this movie like at 2 am and I did not want to sleep until I saw the end, its a great story! Carrie Anne Moss as usual is beautiful in it and John Cullum was brilliant as a dimwitted but determined individual.
