‘Black Mirror‘ season 4 has been released for just over a couple of weeks, but the latest season of the Netflix anthology series has already been divisive to say the least. In response, Netflix has unleashed 6 featurettes that delve into each of the season’s episodes, along with a special bonus featurette that answers a very important lingering question: do these stories share the same universe?
In the new featurette, series’ creator Charlie Brooker explains how they tried to push the limits of this season by “shooting stories in environments that we haven’t really done before”. If anything, the season did just that, and more. You can watch the first featurette–which features Brooker addressing the shared universe theory–below.
Before this season, many had speculated what Brooker just confirmed. If anything, the idea that all of the episodes (at least in this season) have connected threads between them only...

Like dipping your hand into a bag of liquorice allsorts, every episode of Black Mirror is a different shape, a different texture, a different flavor, but each installment reflects a central anxiety: how might technology trap us rather than set us free? To answer this, Black Mirror cleverly favors subtlety over bombast, almost always preferring to explore this question via small-scale drama as opposed to overblown sci-fi space opera. Even with Netflix money flowing through the kitty, writer and producer Charlie Brooker arrows in on individual people and their particular anxieties rather than getting carried away with techno-melodrama.
By virtue of being an anthology, half the fun is debating your favorite episode. For instance, the Emmy-award-winning “San Junipero” is the critical darling of season 3 but I much prefer “Shut up and Dance” from that series, a savage game of cat and mouse between a wide-eyed teen and a hacking cartel.

The fourth season of Black Mirror is only three weeks away.
That’s the news coming out of Netflix this afternoon, after the online giant confirmed that six new episodes – six bleak, technology-driven nightmares – will be available to consume from December 29th. A suitably chilling trailer accompanied today’s media dump (see above), which cuts between each new chapter in Charlie Brooker’s Emmy-winning anthology series.
From the Jodie Foster-directed “Arkangel” to “Metalhead,” the show’s first ever black-and-white episode (see below), Black Mirror season 4 looks set to deliver another dose of unmissable drama. It’s vintage Brooker, too: happiness is fleeting and, supposedly, everything happens for a reason. Other instalments include “Crocodile,” “Hang the DJ,” “Black Museum,” and the Star Trek-inspired “USS Callister,” which stars Jesse Plemons and Jimmi Simpson of Fargo and Westworld, respectively.

The trailer, which can be seen below, ranges from futuristic sets with robots and spaceships to more mundane settings. According to EW, at an early PaleyFest screening of “USS Callister,” creator Charlie Brooker revealed that the episode was conceived as an adult “Toy Story” and it’s about “living under a tyrant.” Its obvious riff on “Star Trek” means that it’s grander in scope and uses a healthy amount of lens flares.

Get ready for another season of twists, terror, laughs, and love, as “Black Mirror” Season 4 is upon us, once again drawing upon our worst fears and best hopes for the future.
For a show where literally anything can happen with each new episode, there’s something ironic about the fact that we’ve come to have certain expectations as to what an episode of “Black Mirror” might be. Season 4 doesn’t technically subvert those expectations — there are at least two episodes, “Arkangel” and “Crocodile,” which are very much identifiable as classic “Black Mirror” tales. But fortunately, creator Charlie Brooker has taken some big swings with other installments, and the result is proof that “Black Mirror,” as a series, has plenty of mileage left in it.

Charlie Brooker, creator of anthology drama Black Mirror, has been travelling down a dystopian wormhole since 2011. However, Brooker, who spent years as a Guardian newspaper columnist, calling out the likes of former British Prime Minister David Cameron as a “pitiless blank-eyed hell-wraith,” has found a somewhat lighter tone in Season 4 of the tech-driven Netflix drama. Hang The DJ, which stars Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) and George Blagden…...

Netflix has released the trailer for their Star Trek-inspired episode from Black Mirror Season 4. It's called "U.S.S. Callister" and it's the episode that a lot of people are excited about. This definitely looks like it's going to be an interesting episode as it looks like a full-on comedic Star Trek parody. But with this being part of the Black Mirror series, we know that there is something more dark and sinister underneath what we are seeing in this trailer. Here's a brief plot summary:
Join Captain Daly and his trusty crew as they explore the galaxy and the dangers of unknown alien planets.
“USS Callister” was directed by Toby Haynes (Dr Who, Sherlock) and stars Jesse Plemons (Black Mass, Fargo), Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street, Fargo), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, House of Cards), and Michaela Coel (Chewing Gum, Monsters: Dark Continent).

Time to boldly go into another one of Charlie Brooker’s mind-bending story worlds — though this one looks awfully familiar. Based on the trailer for “USS Callister,” one of the upcoming installments of Season 4, it’s quite clear that for at least one episode, “Black Mirror” is blasting off into a future reminiscent of “Star Trek.”
“USS Callister” doesn’t just appear to be paying tribute to “Star Trek” in general, though — from the sets to the costumes to Jesse Plemons’ very deliberate enunciation, Brooker, co-writer William Bridges and director Toby Haynes (“Doctor Who,” “Sherlock”) seem clearly inspired by the 1960s original series, which has remained iconic for the last 50 years.
Adding “Black Mirror” to his already impressive resume (which also includes “Breaking Bad,” “Friday Night Lights,” and “Fargo” Year 2), Plemons takes the captain’s chair for the feature-length episode.

Netflix has released another trailer for Black Mirror Season 4. This one is for an episode called "Metalhead", which was written by series creator Charlie Brooker and directed by David Slade (Breaking Bad, American Gods).
The episode was shot entirely in black and white and the story follows a woman (Maxine Peake) who seems to be being pursued by some kind of killer robot dogs from the future. It looks like it will be an incredibly intense episode!
Here’s the Netflix synopsis for Black Mirror season 4:
Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.

In order to stoke excitement for the upcoming season of “Black Mirror,” individual episode trailers have been released, giving sneak peeks of the standalone stories making up this season. Netflix released one of the most striking ones on Dec. 3 with “Metalhead,” written by series creator Charlie Brooker and directed by David Slade. Best known for helming “Hard Candy,” “30 Days of Night,” and key episodes of shows such as “Hannibal” and “American Gods,” Slade brings a black and white chapter to “Black Mirror.” Starring Maxine Peake (“The Theory Of Everything”), Jake Davies (“The Missing”), and Clint Dyer (“Hope Springs”), details on the episode are slim so far, save the video’s haunting description: “Beware of Dogs.” But judging by the intense footage, it appears to be one of the more horror-heavy installments of the series.

The past couple days have consisted of Netflix blasting the web with repeated trailers for Season 4 of Black Mirror, and I've been loving every one of them! “Black Mirror” has always been a show interested in romance, but in “Hang the DJ,” one of the upcoming installments of the anthology series’ fourth season, the search for true love is front and center.
Starring Georgina Campbell (“Flowers,” “Broadchurch”), Joe Cole (“Peaky Blinders,” “Green Room”), and George Blagden (“Versailles,” “Vikings”), “Hang the DJ” focuses on, according to Netflix, “an advanced dating system, that maps out a series of relationships for you in advance.” That might sound like a souped-up version of Bumble, but as always with “Black Mirror,” there’s far more to the story.
Tim Van Patten, whose resume includes “The Sopranos” and “Game of Thrones,” directed the episode, making it one of the few episodes of the series to be directed by an American. Series creator Charlie Brooker, like with many “Black Mirror” episodes, wrote the script.

By nature, an anthology series won’t hit it out of the park every time. When “Black Mirror” misses the mark, its often because the target it chooses is a bit on the nose, and I have to say, I’m getting that vibe from the latest season four teaser, for the episode “Hang The DJ.”
Directed by Tim Van Patten (“The Sopranos,” “Game of Thrones“), starring Georgina Campbell, Joe Cole, and George Blagden, and of course, written by the show’s creator Charlie Brooker, this entry takes a comedic look at online dating (though a bit more advanced).

‘Black Mirror‘ is a show that I absolutely love. In what is the closest thing to a modern day ‘Twilight Zone‘, creator/show runner Charlie Booker‘s hypnotic series has managed to captivate audiences in it’s first three seasons. The show – which was originally aired on BBC – was expanded to a six episode format after Netflix picked up the show for it’s third, and now fourth season, and is highly anticipated to say the least.
Season 3 was backed by some incredible talent, and based on the trailer for season 4, this trend seems to be continuing. In particular, this upcoming season provides a hefty dose of talent in the director’s chair that includes: Jodie Foster, John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless), David Slade (Hannibal), Colm McCarthy(Peaky Blinders) and Toby Haynes (Dr Who), Tim Van Patten(The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire).

The technology based anthology show, Black Mirror, has released a teaser for its upcoming and highly anticipated fourth season. Revealed were the titles of six new episodes of the Netflix original series. For me, the show comes closer to the original Twilight Zone, than say, The Outer Limits or Tales From the Darkside. The show's quality stories and overall creepy feel has brought us some of the better mind trips in recent memory.
Titles listed in the teaser include, “Crocodile,” “Arkangel,” “Hang the DJ” (which appears to star Rosario Dawson), “USS Callister,” “Metalhead,” “Black Museum.” The trailer doesn’t give us much to go on, a few short clips accompany each new title, but with no official synopses released, all us fans can do is speculate what the episodes will be about. Netflix did not disclose an official release date for the new episodes, but ‘soon’ is that we were told in the teaser.

If you're a fan of Black Mirror drop what you're doing and watch the first teaser trailer for Season 4 now! Hell, it looks like there's a Star Trek inspired episode! The promo basically gives us the titles of the episodes in Season 4 and offers a little snippet of footage from each one. I'm definitely intrigued by what I'm seeing! Six new realities await.
Netflix has today unveiled the freaky first teaser for Black Mirror season 4, along with the stellar cast list and official episode titles. In keeping with the show’s knack for puzzles and confounding, reality-altering mystery, the trailer above is a super-sleek and fairly ominous peek at those “six new stories,” all of which come from the mind of series creator and showrunner, Charlie Brooker.
Remaining behind the scenes for the time being, today also brings confirmation that Jodie Foster directed season 4’s pilot episode, “Arkangel,” with Toby Haynes (Sherlock), John Hillcoat (Triple 9) and David Slade (Hannibal) also receiving credits. Casting-wise, Black Mirror has added the likes of Jesse Plemons (Fargo), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) and Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land) to its ranks, and the first-look teaser shows Netflix’s dark, prescient anthology series venturing into full-blown sci-fi territory. One would assume that Star Trek-esque...

Tiff’s Midnight Madness program turned 25 this year, and for two and half decades, the hardworking programers have gathered some of the strangest, most terrifying, wild, intriguing and downright entertaining films from around the world.
