The Polka Dot Door aired every weekday. Each day of the week had a different consistent theme. Monday was "Treasure Day". Tuesday was "Dress-Up Day". Wednesday was "Animal Day". Thursday was "Imagination Day". And
Friday was "Finding-Out Day".
Polkaroo was created by Tanya Petrova, Canadian "Soft Sculpture" artist.
Although it appears improvised, the show was tightly scripted. Prior to filming a series of five episodes, the two cast members, director and music director would usually meet at a local church to read through the scripts, rehearse songs, and rework segments to be sure they ran close to the allotted time.
The same Christmas episodes were run annually and feature an entirely different couple from the regular hosts and hostesses.
