Susan LYNCH Lands Latest Ripper Role

9 May 2000 | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Susan Lynch will play an alcoholic lesbian opposite Johnny Depp and Heather Graham in a new JACK The Ripper biopic. The Waking Ned Devine (1998) actress fears it will be the darkest role of her career - because she has to spend most of the movie drunk and she's eventually murdered by The Ripper She says, "It starts filming in June in Prague and it's a wonderful script, and Johnny Depp is heading the cast. I play LIZ STRIDE and I'm an alcoholic - I get killed when I'm p**sed... She's a prostitute who happens to be a lesbian. It's a very interesting character. I'm looking forward to going to Prague as I've never been... I get killed three quarters of the way through the movie... All the female parts in the movie are very interesting. I was reading for another character in the auditions but I fell in love with Liz. She's really unconventional."

Nesbitt's Sash Troubles

21 March 2000 | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Waking Ned Devine (1998) star James Nesbitt landed himself in hot water over his references to singing Unionist anthem THE SASH on British show TFI FRIDAY, filmed in Dublin on St Patricks Day. Some of the studio audience were angry when Ulster-born Nesbitt said he sang the sectarian number during the show, hosted by CHRIS EVANS. (17MAR00). But Nesbitt says, "The whole thing was done in a very tongue in cheek sort of way. My mother probably won't talk to me after it. But I was only having a laugh. I've very proud of my Irishness. " The "Cold Feet" (1998/II) actor is a regular visitor to Dublin and is expected to hit the big time after his next movie I LOVE HARRY is released.
