A bit of an unusual combination, but overall it is working

Warning: Spoilers
"Boo to You Too! Winnie the Pooh" is an animated television short film from 1996, so this one had its 20th anniversary last year already. Some of the people working on this one, behind and in front of the camera, may be known to Americans, but here in Europe not really. But looking at the rating and the awards recognition, this may be a certain contender for best received for several cast and crew members here. And this praise, including an Emmy win and an Annie Award nomination, also makes sure people consider this a valid addition to the Winnie Pooh universe.

Now you may think that the spooky subject of Halloween with creepy creatures, scary darkness and danger (maybe even supernatural) lurking in the shadows may have nothing to do with the harmless and innocent world of Winnie the Pooh and his friends and actually, you may be partially right. But they sure kept the scare factor here low enough for it to work. And the characters got stories that suit them. In the center of it all is Piglet being really scared of course and he should be the title character here, but as always it's Pooh. Rabbit just wants his calm and his magnificent pumpkin specimens to grow quietly. Tigger is really living the Halloween spirit and can't wait for things to get started, quite the opposite of Piglet. And Pooh can do without the tricking part, but sure wants some sweet tasty treats. The donkey was a bit forgettable this time, even if the costume was nice.

In terms of story, voice-acting and animation, this was a decent job without ever really reaching levels of greatness. But chances are high you have seen (lots of) other stuff by WtP and his gang before coming across these slightly over 20 minutes we got here. If you liked what you saw and are into retro animation, then this is probably a good choice to check out, especially during the Halloween days. I give it a thumbs-up, but I'd still say it is/was a bit on the overrated side.

A must watch for Halloween and for Winnie the Pooh fans
TheLittleSongbird4 January 2012
I always have been a Winnie the Pooh, and love to revisit it during my spare time. I loved Boo to You Too! Winnie the Pooh, and am not surprised at its Primetime Emmy win, it deserved it. The animation is beautiful and clean, maintaining the colourful style of the wonderful TV series The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, while having some haunting colours to it as well. The music is lovely as well, with Piglet's song I'm Not Afraid very poignant without being too overly-sentimental. I Wanna Scare Myself has a very bizarre and Heffalump and Woozles-inspired vibe to it, and that's what I loved about it. The main strengths though are the writing which is very amusing in the dialogue complete with a heart-warming ending, the story which is very sweet, engaging and strongly reminiscent of the endearing childhood innocence of the show and the characters are so likable especially Tigger. The voice acting is great, as consistently good as Jim Cummings is and how understated John Rhys Davis' narration is the real plaudits go to John Fiedler as Piglet, whose voice work is very touching. In conclusion, a must watch. 10/10 Bethany Cox

Pooh's Halloween
zsofikam3 May 2016
I have made no secret of loving Winnie the Pooh. I love the sweet tone, the soft animation, the songs, the characters, the sweet plot lines, the humour, the dialogue, just about everything. This installment is just as wonderful as the others and just as much an essential part of my childhood. The highlight to me is Tigger's song I Wanna Scare Myself. Tigger is my favourite Pooh character (always has been) and the song itself is just so catchy. I also loved the hilarious scene where Eeyore mistakes Gopher's costume for a yak (Gopher is actually dressed as Eeyore) and also when Gopher dresses up as Rabbit and Rabbit mistakes the costume for a muskrat. It was also so sweet how everyone tries to get an anxious Piglet into the Halloween spirit and then there is fun dialogue like "he's been pig-napped by spookables!" Piglet's song I'm Not Afraid is also very nice and sentimental.

Forever an exceptional choice for Halloween!

This is one of those rare treats that comes around only once in a lifetime. This is really an exceptional part of the Winnie the Pooh franchise. It's a great way to enjoy a fun, somewhat silly Halloween with your kids, or even just to watch with your own friends if you're just that much of a Disney lover. This will forever be an exceptional choice for Halloween no matter what!

Although (like I've said) it was basically a halloween episode of the series "New adventures of winnie the pooh" this is a great showing of it & if you love watching the series (like myself) & even if you never heard of the series but love winnie the pooh you'll love this too & even if you don't know much about W.T.P it has a delightful kid-friendly charm to li'l ones & if you like light-hearted (non-offensive) humor if you like these kinds of things you'll enjoy this film & it has voices of Jim cummings(many areas such as Bump in the night & goof troop etc.) as pooh & the original voice of Tigger Mr.Paul winchell & the voiceactors of optimus prime(transformers) as eeyore(peter cullen) those are the reconizeable voices in here(unless you've heard of the other voiceacting people elsewhere) so bye for now is this was my 2 cents for right now.

A real heart-warmer for Halloween starring Winnie the Pooh
ja_kitty_7112 October 2016
Here is another Halloween TV special I love that features Winnie the Pooh and his friends. The story mostly focuses on Piglet, who was always too scared to go outside on Halloween night. But he really wants to spend time with his friends and is greatly ashamed of spoiling the night for them. So Pooh decides to have a "Hallow-wasn't" in hopes that Piglet will join him and the others. So that is all I know, folks.

I thought this was a nice TV special with the "Halloween doesn't have to be scary" message for children, without being "in your face," of course. And I love the "I Wanna Scare Myself" musical sequence from Tigger. So anyway, I love this cartoon special! It's a classic and a real heartwarmer for Halloween.
