A fun series
Rectangular_businessman9 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When I was a kid, "Saint Seiya" was my favorite anime, and I started to watch other Japanese animations with a similar story like "Shurato" and this series. I also liked American cartoons like "Visionaries" and King Arthur and the Knights of Justice".

While "Samurai Troopers" didn't have the same level of complexity of "Saint Seiya", it was very funny to watch, since it had a likable cast heroes and interesting villains as well. Even when the animation wasn't perfect, it still was a quite entertaining show.

I liked a lot the designs of the armors, which were my favorite part of this animation, which I fondly remember as a part of my childhood.

How to Get a Girl into Anime
iabarat29 December 2003
Ronin Warriors was not my first anime experience, but it was what interested me in the genre. At fourteen, my group of friends had been trying to peak my interest in anime through films like Ninja Scroll and Akira. Great films, but not the best way to get most girls interested in anime.

But that same year, I discovered Ronin Warriors on TV. It was action-packed, but not bloody. And the guys were drawn to look very attractive. I immediately got into the show and started watching it every day it was on. It had gotten me interested enough in anime that when Sailor Moon took over its time slot a year later, I kept watching.

My time with Sailor Moon is best left to a different review.

Watching it again on DVD with my current love of anime makes me realise how cheesy the series was, but I can still understand why I liked it so much. I will say that the show is better as Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, but not as funny to watch.

The premise is simple, an evil force that had been previously conquered is taking over Japan/the world and the only thing that can stop him and his four warlords are an extremely knowledgeable woman and five teenage boys with magical samurai armor. Add in cute kid. A fun series in either language, get the DVD that has both.

The Boys will always be in town!
mako_chan723 March 2002
This is such a good series! The story line is great! When the commercials first came on, I didn't think it was going to be that good, but I was wrong!

The story is about 5 (cute) guys that have to battle it out with an evil demon from another realm that has 4 (also cute) guys to do the battling for him. It's your usual story of good versus evil, but it has some nice side-stories.

Since it was made in '88, the animation compares to Mobile Suit Gundam and Dragon Ball Z. It's not always smooth and clean, and the explosions don't look all that real. Sometimes you want to laugh when the characters start to run, but it's still good!

There are some flaws to the story, two particularly annoying characters that always seem to be in the way. (Fans of this show know which two I'm talking about! I won't tell you though, I wouldn't want you to hate them because I do...)

It's good qualities work with it's bad qualities, making this series a classic in my book (and video collection)!

Mako-chan7 gives it a perfect *10*

9 year old first anime
aholmgren-7842411 December 2020
The year was like 1992, I was lucky enough to have cable TV and stumbled upon this show while waiting for Transformers early one morning on the Syfy channel. I didn't really want to be a Robot in disguise after that day. I really wanted to be a Ronin Warrior (I still absolutely loved Transformers) but all I wanted in life was to be a Mythical Samurai Warrior. Life long anime fan ever since. 9 year old me was a pretty cool kid. 🤘

Classic and entertaining!
oobrey511 February 2007
I used to watch this show as a child, and I loved it! I watched it when it came on Toonami YEARS ago....Sheesh, I sound so old! I must've been 13 or 14 when it came on...But anyways, it had a great plot line, and I'm one of those girlie-girls who watched (and ADORED) Sailormoon, and I enjoyed it very much. The animation wasn't the best....Quite amusing in some parts, actually, and the voice acting was EXTREMELY lame in the beginning, but it was all a good watch, and I found myself sucked into it day after day.

Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors is a classic, and an all-time one of my faves. Go Ryo!!!!

What started it all
angelinamundorf28 April 2021
This was my first anime I've ever watched, I was introduced to it when I was around 6-7 and have been obsessed with it ever since. It's great because you can watch with your anime loving friends, family who knows nothing about anime, or even alone! I've spent years watching and enjoying anime, all thanks to this show, it honestly made me the person I am, so yeah, it's good!!!

Right up there with Ninja Turtles
blink-1018 December 1999
This show has it all Good vs. Evil, a great storyline. Topped with great music, illustration, and acting voices. The warriors look sweet in their armor and they have awesome weapons. I got hooked on this show when i was in 3rd or 4th grade and have loved it since. It's right up their with ninja turtles. One of the greatest Cartoons ever

RONIN WARRIORS: 80's Mystic Samurai's
Jinxxa_Wolf3 March 2024
RONIN WARRIORS: Legend of the Inferno Armor (1988-1995) is a really fun anime from the 80's about modern/futuristic mystic Samurai with magical supernatural armor that imbues the wearer with elemental abilities, given to them by a powerful master, in order to protect the earth against the ruler of the netherworld, Talpa. This anime series is very entertaining and easy to get into to.

"After a thousand years of exile, Talpa, ruler of the Netherworld, returns to claim the Earth as his own. The only thing that can stop him and his minions are five young men and their mystical suits of armor."

This was such a well made series and is still really fun to watch today. Retro cool!

cool show
Cat-17624 November 2000
This is a very nice show. The characters have interesting personalities, and for once, an anime woman is not portrayed as an idiot. Nia is an intelligent young woman who helps the Ronin Warriors on their quest. The action is intense, and the plot is interesting, while still easy to understand, should you intrude in the middle of the series. However, if you dislike cartoons that are drawn using older techniques (the type of animation that, for whatever reason, looks like it was made in the late eighties) than you should avoid this show, since it was made in 1988.

My first exposure to Japanese Animation on Television.
jediharr2 October 1999
Why do I like this show? Because it is awesome! It has everything that makes an anime cool. Cool Armor, story, and darkness. This is one of my favorite anime shows of all time. It is a very good and underrated show. I want some of those action figures they used to have. This show was awesome!

I love this cartoon.
feldspar-619 May 2000
I just really like this cartoon. Nice animation, interesting (and, in the case of Kento, quite amusing) characters, good plotline, really nice scenery. I seriously appreciate the Toonami people for this cartoon, but then I like all the cartoons they show, except for Thunder Cats.

Like many other users, this was my first exposure to ANIME.
TheTransfan20 July 2000
Before Dragonball Z and Robotech, THIS was my first ANIME experience. It was quite cool and beat the pants right off Power Rangers. Still an awesome show, but after Ryo rescued all the other Ronin Warriors, it got a little old. I especially didn't like the last episode, for it totally discarded the purpose of the series.

*** out of 4 stars:A good dark anime.
PJS-510 May 2000
Starring:Matt Hill(Ninja turtles next mutation),Lalainia Lindbjerg(Disturbing Behavior)

Genre(s):Animated,sci-fi,fantasy,action

Rated Y7:Violence and this show is a bit gothic.

Summary:An acient demon horde (Known as the dynasty) is at a semi-old fashioned quest for world conqeust. But 5 heroes such Ryo of the wildfire(Hill) as others must stop him.

The good:Very nicely done animation, good stories, etc. And this anime will certainly appeal to gothic fans. (Although it isn't gothic as in Tim Burton goth but sometimes not being as goth as burton can be a good thing.)

The bad:If you can't stand the common fighting that happens on DragonBall Z (also featuring Lailania Lindbjerg) then don't bother here. And if you can't stand goth then you also don't bother. Besides this show can get easily mockable.

Quote:I'll show you how wicked I really am!-Kento of hardrock
