Very sad and tragic anime but at the same time, it's brillant

Warning: Spoilers
This anime was definitely full of surprises but unfortunately sad ones though. I felt so sorry for Rei that she had suicidal thoughts and was harming by taking pills. It was pretty hard to watch that she fell off accidentally on a balcony and died instantly. So heart breaking that scene was💔💔

I really thought from the very beginning that Nanako and herself would become a Yuri couple but it seems Rei loves the sorority president Fukiko more. I ship Nanako and Rei sorry lol. I have to say though, this anime was pretty dark. Even the bullying and the manipulation would make you feel sad for Nanako, sure it wasn't her fault that her professor stepdad wasn't her dad and like, she like anyone deserves to join a sorority regardless if high status or not. As well as Reis death, these scenes were hard to watch too?

Great dark oldie anime but I suggest to not watch this folks if you are triggered with sad scenes that have suicidal or bullying themes.

Beautiful characters which shape an aesthetic story

Warning: Spoilers
I love how every characters have their own teenage problem, and how they impact on each other. Sad and beautiful. Brilliant.

But still I have this question, ((spoiler))

what sexuality is Nanako? Why did she looks like she being a lover to Rei (Saint-Juste sama) but in the end she says that she find a man of hers? Is it mean she is bisexual, or is it just different kind of love?

Very good shoujo anime
AngelofMusic199828 January 2024
Dear Brother (from the same mangaka as Rose of Versailles) tells about the girl called Nanako, who is chosen to be a member of sorority of Seiran Academy, despite not being exactly qualified for the position of a member. I love Nanako. She is sweet, kind and honest, like most shoujo heroines . This may be a shoujo, but it deals with some very serious topics. I loved Rei and Kaoru as characters a lot too! The animation is great for the early 90s. Voice actors really did a very good job as well with all of the characters. This anime is going to make you feel a lot of emotions. Overall, very good. 8/10.

A thought provoking and extreme character-development anime...
Scortia27 July 2000
This anime is one of my favorites. It takes place in an upper class girls' school. There, the Sorority rules over everyone and you are truly a chosen one if you are selected to get in. Our star, Nanako, despite her background, gets into the Sorority. This provokes everyone's inner turmoils to start brewing...

Do you remember Versailles No Bara? you remember Versailles No Bara, do you?
TooKakkoiiforYou_3212 September 2022
Take Versailles No Bara, replace the setting and the characters with a school full of teenager schoolgirls and ramp-up to over 9000 the drama because hey, already in the original manga Riyoko Ikeda wanted to express her love for opera so why not going full on it? People might stop caring alltogether after seeing expressions of emotions so forced that would make Silvester Stallone's overacting in Judge Dredd green of envy but hey, I'm a mediocre director who made one good thing in the 70's (I'm speaking of Osamu Dezaki) that needs to fill 39 episodes taken from a three-volume manga storyline so I need to fill it with as much pathetic suicide innuendos as possible and that's what I'm going to do, even at the cost of sounding ridicolous! Mediocrity in a nutshell.

WHY!?!?
fragle-2685125 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is the second Japanese animated movie (Blue Drop) that I became invested in the characters only to watch the demise of one of them. At least compared to Blue Drop it happened in episode 30 of 39 instead of the final five or so mins of the movie. I'm devastated and not sure I want to finish it. It was a fun series to watch until the accident which could have been completely avoided. 🙁🙁🙁
