One Star Extra For Sadashiv Amrapurkar aka Maharani
Hussain-AL-Naseer27 April 2020
To be honest I never intended to give review of this movie but some un-expected response from my insta account, here I share with you my thoughts about Sadak. One of the popular and highest grossers of 1991,the film looks pretty ordinary in 2020. A hero rescuing his love from Antogonists is surely we've seen many times with multiple plots. The only thing for which I can argue or recommend you to go and watch this 2hours romantic action flick is the outclass performance of Late Sadashiv Amrapurkar as Maharani a Transgender running a brothel and is the main Antagonist of the movie. Almost 30years ago a one cannot aspect this type of bold performance and so straight forward brutal dialogues which gives you chill. Sadashiv's one of the most powerful character that he has played on screen is surely Maharani for which this underrated actor got Filmfare for best actor in a negative role. So people from late 90's and 2000's again I would suggest you that if you wanna see a hell of a character you should go an watch Sadak and look for Maharani.

Made Better But Could Made More Better!
aniketprasad24 August 2020
Ravi a taxi driver who met a lady on road and they made fall in love with each other. Then she sold to maharani for not repay loan on time. Ravi always tries rescue to save him form maharani. So it's basically a revenge drama romance action film but it is easily predictable in case of story/screenplay. Great songs but bgm in end is drastically sound.

Only Saviour of this film is Kumar Sanu's Songs
Joy-Sinha28 August 2020
It was an unofficial remake of Hollywood classic Taxi Driver but it was disappointing. Performance wise Sanjay dutt was good but other actors were too loud. Only memorable thing is the music and no one can deny that Kumar Sanu again made this film a hit with his melodious numbers. Songs are evergreen till today and will always be.

a beautiful romance
adwaithmenon17 October 2006
This is a beautifully crafted movie which also made some controversies at the time it was made, as the actress in the lead role was the director's daughter. But the cast was so well done that each of the characters got the perfect actor they can get for the role. The villain was not a 6 foot muscle man, but a eunuch played by sadashiv amrapurkar. The main role's background, his life and issues were portrayed well off and it was a heart touching romance to watch. Ravi (sanjay dutt) desperately tries to 'buy' pooja (pooja bhatt) from the hands of the vicious villains brothel, and the hardships he has to go through at each points can be literally experienced while watching the movie. It was both a hit at the time of release (credit goes to melodious songs), and also a heart touching romance.

Another superb film of Mahesh Bhatt and Sanju
silvan-desouza11 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sanjay Dutt's career got resurrected with NAAM and then he and Mahesh Bhatt worked again in Kabzaa, this was their third film together which released in 1991. The film also had a superhit music of Nadeem Shravan with whom Bhatt collaborated with in other superhits too like Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin which released in same year and then HARPK and other films.

The film starts off with Sanjay Dutt who drives taxi so that he can erase memories of his deceased sister(quite similar to Taxi Driver) then he meets Pooja Bhatt who is forsaken in a brothel which is run by an Eunuch played by Sadashiv Amrapurkar.Bhatt used the eununch track later in Tamanna though they it was shown in a positive light.

The film is superbly handled and keeps you engrossed, It is brilliantly handled by Mahesh Bhatt, Surprisingly the brothel part was used a lot those days in his own AWAARGI(1990) and Salman starrer BAAGHI too.

Music by Nadeem Shravan is superb, be it the romantic Tumhe Apna Banane Ki Kasam, Jab Jab Pyar Pe Pehra both sung by Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal, Hum Tere Bin by Manhar Udhas,Anuradha is great too(perhaps once when Manhar sang for NS), Zamaane Ke Dekhe Hai by Abhijeet and Anuradha is another great song, other songs are okay

Sanjay Dutt despite his changing hairstyles throughout does a superb job, portraying the pain, agony and all pathos convincingly Pooja Bhatt after DADDY was a bit raw but does a good job Sadashiv Amrapurkar got the filmfare best villain award that year, he was simply brilliant, Bhatt regulars Avtar Gill, Mushtaque Khan, Deepak Tijori and others are good, Gavin Packard, Pankaj Dheer lend good support, Neelima Azim is good, while Soni Razdan is good in a cameo

Waste of time
yoursyatin28 August 2020
Please do not get carried away by fake publicity..

This movie doesnot even deserve a star... Movie lacked basic plot.. Average dialogue writing... Unpleasant songs... Alia bhatt acting is good but could not carry the weight of the film alone... Too many sad sequences artificially created to gain sympathy but did amass any votes at all...

Need a disprin now... Bye bye ...

great!
tharenvirsawan_35 May 2005
the film i thought was quiet funny because of the villain in which makes you laugh. The only reason i watched this film was because of the songs which were famous at the time, songs like 'Tujhe Apna' and 'Rehne Ko'are songs to be remembered. The film deals with a lot of issues like love, death, nightmare, kill, murder and steal. The film starts on a taxi driver who works day and night but not for money but to take away the images of his sisters death in which he wants to forget.the story it self is good written by Robin Bhatt but some credit has to go to the talented director Mahesh Bhatt!!!Performances,Sanjay it has to be and then Pooja Bhatt, but she did do a great job!

Shameless rip off of Taxi Driver
sumitjain9120 September 2020
The story and acting only works in parts and can't match the original in any department. Better see Taxi Driver than wasting time on cheap rip-off.

Great musical romance come action/revenge drama
bashi-1912629 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Sadak by many is referred to as the Bollywood taxi driver but I generally don't see how that comparison or conclusion is made.Sadak is a great Bollywood watch with some great music acting especially the villain Maharani. Mahesh bhatt succeeds in directing a Bollywood masala flick with a few serious themes underlined.

One amazing movie from our beloved "Raghu".
sudhirkumarpal816 August 2020
Whenever they release a reboot or sequel, I go back and watch the original old one and then I wonder how come they even thought about going for that. Even the same actors can match their old performances, be it any reason for their signing the new movie. Baba is not supposed to be that calm elderly and sophisticated person. The role in the new movie doesn't do justice to him even let alone matching with the old movie. #Sadak vs #Sadak2
