semi-memorable

Watching Blue Murder for the first time this week, I keep thinking, Where do I know Caroline Quentin from? I recognized the name and face...but from where? Finally remembered to look her up here and Kiss Me Kate rang the bell. I did enjoy this show, but I needed the details in the two reviews here to bring it back to me. Perhaps I'll watch it again some day. Ms. Quentin is one of those actors who stick in your mind.

Let's skip the kiss, Kate.

Kate Salinger (Caroline Quentin) is a marriage and relationship counselor who seems to be able to solve everyone else's problems but not her own. Her flatmate, Douglas (series writer Chris Langham), works with Kate and is also in love with her. He makes it so obvious, we as the audience wonder how someone as intelligent as Kate could be so dense about it. Kate, on the other hand, is crazy about Douglas' brother, Ian, a doctor who changes girlfriends faster than he changes underwear. Kate seems oblivious to this as well. The only long-term couple on the show is Kate's secretary, Mel (Amanda Holden), and Craig, the downstairs computer geek (Darren Boyd). The series follows the ups and downs in Kate's life, and reveals her own imperfections and insecurities as she tries to help others with theirs.

"Kiss Me Kate" is a Britcom that features a quirky cast with chemistry and some hilarious situations, but at times Kate's condescending attitude and crass talk can be a turn-off. It's difficult to like her character; it's easier to feel sympathy for her and her friends. And the lovely, dark-haired Quentin proves that a woman doesn't have to be a size 4 to be talented and beautiful.

just found this wonderful show for the first time a few weeks ago. I think I am in love with Chris Langham!! His character in the show is lovable and makes one wonder why in heaven's name kate doesn't grab him up (guess she's too busy talking!!) I can imagine that Mr. Langham is similar in real life to the Douglas character that he portrays. It's in his eyes and beautiful mouth - he is so considerate and kind!

This fan really appreciates Mr. Langham's talent for writing and acting. Does he have plans for any new shows that appear on PBS in America? With all the indecent junk shows that are on U.S. TV, this show is so refreshing because it is entertaining, funny and suitable for all audiences! Thank you so much, Mr. Langham. I really do like you lots!
