Sridevi and Jaya Prada didn't exchange a word during the shooting of the eight or nine films they co-starred in. While shooting "Maqsad", their co-stars Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra apparently locked the two women up in the same room. An hour later when they peeped in, they saw them sitting quietly in two corners of the room.
Jeetendra-Sridevi and Rajesh Khanna-Jayaprada were popular pairs of the 1980s. In this movie which was made when Sridevi and Jayaprada were relatively new to the hindi film industry Rajesh was paired with Sridevi and Jeetu with Jaya. Until 1995 Jeetu and Jaya had co-starred in 25 films.
Maqsad was the 2nd highest grossing film in 1984 with 100% opening across country and collecting over 8,50,00,000. It was a Golden Jubliee Hit Film.
At that time the top produccer of south D.Rama Naidu had produced 2 films toghether Maqsad & Tohfa and both films were released in the same year.
Sri Devi's voice was dubbed by a dubbing artiste in the film.
