Vera Vague (born Barbara Jo Allen) is the blue-nosed college matron, in love with Chester Clute. In comes her identical twin sister, also played by Vera Vague (born Barbara Jo Allen), who is being courted by Fritz Feld. She offers to pretend to be Vera (whose real name was Barbara Jo Allen) to get Chester to pop the question, if Vera will play her (all of whom were born Barbara Jo Allen except for Fritz and Chester) while they double-date with their beaus. The trouble is, when Fritz kisses Vera, she slugs him.
Fritz Feld takes over this Vera Vague short subject, with all his comedy tics in place, including his mouth-popping. It's very well done, even the arc of the gags, the type of Jules White gags, with undercranking, wirework and loud sound effects, in the last couple of minutes. Here, they didn't bother me, because they fit into the arc of increasing silliness, instead of being present from the beginning, as too many of White's shorts did.
What I am trying to say, in my vague way (I was not born Barbara Jo Allen), is this is a funny short comedy.
