It's been so long ago, but this was my introduction to The Wind In the Willows.
When I would finally see books entitled the Wind in the Willows, I would think 'hey, that's Mr. Toad.' There was the animated version with Jose Ferrer, Eddie Bracken and Roddy McDowell in the late eighties, as well as the sensationally brilliant English version in the nineties with Sir MIchael Hordern as Badger, but I would see Mr. Toad first.
"Who's that flyin' down the road? Could it be Mr. Toad?" It would air Sunday mornings and we missed much of it to go to Sunday school. It seems it was Rankin Bass but clearly it wasn't. Still it would be fun to see again, tho I am certain it is older than 1975.
Any version of Wind in the Willows, including the Ferrer, Bracken, McDowell version with Charles Nelson Reilly as Mr. Toad, is always a treat.
