Following up on their excellent remix of The Weekend’s collaboration with Daft Punk on “Starboy” last month, Vicetone are back to offer up their latest original single. For the new effort, the Dutch DJ duo have enlisted rising singer Grace Grundy to contribute some top notch vocal hooks on “Kaleidoscope.”
The track opens gently with a heart tugging piano melody and icy ambience, as Grace Grundy contributes some angelic vocals over the sparse instrumentation. Echoed percussion and a string section join the mix, as Vicetone work the energy up into the first drop. Four on the floor rhythms explode as Grundy’s voice is transformed into a cascading melody, while a barrage of splashy synth notes keep things moving.
Vicetone‘s latest single is a solid offering from the duo, who craft an enticing production around the song’s vocals. “Kaleidoscope” manages to satisfy in more ways than one,...

UK duo Gorgon City have been steadily unleashing their Kingdom project over the last several months, an ambitious double album that the group has been dropping in installments. Part 1 was released in August, featuring songs like “All Four Walls,” “Blue Parrot” and “Zoom Zoom” with Wyclef Jean, while the duo began to unveil Kingdom Part 2 in September with the first single “Smile” featuring Elderbrook. Now, Belgian DJ The Magician is offering up his own rework of “Smile.”
Compared to the original song, The Magician opts to pick up the pace a bit and layer in a more intricate rhythmic backing. Four on the floor drums pound out a beat alongside echoed ambience and bubbly bass notes, crafting an upbeat backdrop for Elderbrook’s vocals to soar over. The remix offers up pristine melodies and uplifting vibes, which pair perfectly with the club friendly grooves.

"I always liken myself to the bearded lady," says Juliette Lewis. "Because I'm an actress turned musician, a woman doing male-dominated rock & roll. ... I'm the oddity at the freak show, you know?"
Lewis is speaking with Rolling Stone from New York City where, in a few hours, she'll be attending the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of a new documentary on her musical life, Hard Lovin' Woman. The Michael Rapaport-directed short, which will be available on Red Bull TV beginning April 23rd, chronicles Lewis' mid-2000s turn away from a...

Every now and again, you hear of a pop star trying to make it as an actor. Usually, you end up with reliably clunky and awkward performances – one only has to look at Rihanna’s turn in Battleship for that – but occasionally, you get a few good eggs (Bowie in Labyrinth, anyone?). Some singers have even made the transition in to a full-time acting career and had a great deal of success with that, such as Mark and Donnie Wahlberg. But one thing you don’t often hear much of is actors trying to make it with another career as a singer.
Often, it’s because the people that try to make such a movie just aren’t very good – but every now and again, you get a gem that rises up. Here’s a look at some of the famous faces that fit in at both ends of the spectrum.

The respective city papers of the Super Bowl Xlv participates, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Green Bay Press Gazette, offer very different headlines Monday morning (Feb. 7) following the underdog Packers 31-25 victory over the Steelers in the NFL championship game Sunday.
Pittsburgh's call was Seven Can Wait, which is both a comment on how the Steelers would have won their seventh Super Bowl title with a win in 2011 and also a play on the 1978 Warren Beatty movie "Heaven Can Wait."
Green Bay went with a more simple, to-the-point approach: "Champions." It's nice, but they could've gone with something like "Four on the Floor," since this is the club's fourth Super Bowl victory.
The New York Post is always good for clever headlines. We like theirs: "Leaders of the Pack." Vroom vroom, indeed.
