Warning: Spoilers
This is the fascinating tale of a superhero (Shauna Sand) who is killed, leaving her sister (Carmen Electra) to take up her mantle. Even if you have toxic blood flowing through your veins this movie will only give enjoyment on a why did they make this level. You can laugh at the horrific acting of Shauna Sand, although her running is first rate, you can wonder why a certain former playboy playmate (Carmen Electra) did not even do her own nude scenes, or you can simply enjoy the milk and cookies scene for the fine piece of oak inducing entertainment that it is. If you are looking for a more enjoyable Carmen Electra movie, try "The Mating Habits of The Earthbound Human." If you enjoy crap, by all means, bathe yourself in this turd.

Makes a good drink coaster.
Ragnark29 October 2001
What was I thinking when I rented this dvd? God only knows. This has to be one of the worst movies I've seen in absolute ages. The acting, what there of it, was terrible. So what if you get to see some naked flesh, it doesn't make up for the movie. Go out and rent a playboy tape, you'd get better acting than here.

Carmen's junk is as ridiculous funny as Pam's one (vhs)
leplatypus7 September 2016
Sometimes, stories are so crazy and dumb that you can wonder how they have been imagined and how people agree to do the movie. Just read the summary here and you will find a wonderful example. But when you reach this such low level, it's also great opportunities to open meditation. In a way, I take this mystic bad movie as a modern fairy tale and it can become interesting: here, the setting is thus really great as it's the wild California: woods, hills nearly left away of civilization… The native American lore is well done and this arched house is beautiful.. At last, Carmen and Shauna arouse also interest because beyond, there is nothing more: the characters are bad, the scenes are useless and at the end, it's more like a very cheap super heroes movie than a mystic struggle very inspired by the Mumbo Jumbo of SW, the dark side, the chosen one, etc

You'll be sorry.
himikey13 December 1998
Please don't watch this movie. It's not even an "interesting" horrible, like Troma's other works ("Killer Tomatoes" and "Toxic Avenger"). It's just horrible. Even fans of the "actress" Carmen Electra won't be amused with the amazingly unconvincing "stunt" doubles.

Choose Something Else
Zanatos11 September 1999
I really can't believe this one. This made me want to shove my head in the nearest toilet and drown myself. I didn't, because then I knew I would die in the same place this movie belongs! When I saw this was a Troma picture, I should have stopped the tape right there. But, alas, I pressed on, and lost 100 minutes of my life that could have been used to do something better, and anything would have been better, trust me.

The one or two people who have read any of my previous reviews would know that I usually take a moment to describe a plot at this time, but "The Chosen One" has a plot which is beyond description. Actually, I think the film-makers made things up as they went along. Nothing made sense! Of course, that went well with the worst actors and actresses you'll ever see! What disturbs me most is that someone actually got paid to make this mess. The producers probably flew over the cuckoo's nest, because this bird-brained "Raven" should be locked in an atrium forever. Zanatos's score: 1/10...but I would rate it lower if I could. Ugh.

What the f*ck?
Elwood_Blues28 July 2000
What the f*ck? That was my exact thought when this 'movie' ended. Who wrote this crap? The acting level is even lower than in a porn film. The only person who seemed to act at least a little (!) bit was Debra Xavier as the bitch Nora. The rest is ... undescribable. Oh, and the guy(s) who did the sound effects should change their profession ASAP!!!

If you're a fan of Carmen then get a Playboy or whatsoever but don't watch this film!

It's a shame that it's not possible to vote 0/10...

Not only is it bad, but there's precious little skin.
angusparvo2 February 2001
Oh what a waste of tape. The movie was supremely wretched, yet not bad in a way that is funny. The only redeeming feature for pieces of dreck such as this is that usually they feature lots of hard, naked bodies. But no such luck here. You'll get almost as much skin watching an episode of "Days of Our Lives," plus the soap offers much better writing, acting and direction. Unless you really enjoy watching a fully-clothed Carmen Electra being chased through the woods by redneck drunks, skip this thing.

awful. really bad! Carmen has a body double.
tonyheartbreakkid21 July 2006
The thing i don't understand about this movie is why would someone who is as stunning as Carmen Electra need a body double for her nude scenes, the whole world has seen her naked in playboy so what the hell?? I remember reading that there was a scene where Carmen Electra pours milk over her breasts, sounds good right, but its not her! its someone with a similar body, what a waste. There are a few nude scenes in this movie but Carmen is not in them, its her body double.I'm Very disappointed in Carmen why she would choose to have a stand in. Don't waste your money on this, you'll be very annoyed and will be looking to throw it out your nearest window.

Why this film is not worth watching.
rayd-220 February 1999
Almost impossible to follow, not that there is much follow in the first place. Stilted acting and an idiotic plot. This is just a very poor film.

How many country hicks did "The Crow" have?
gridoon5 January 2006
Great DVD cover marketing here, guys! Raven=Crow, therefore this is the successor to Brandon Lee's "The Crow"! Em, no. Actually, reading the plot synopsis and looking at the photos I expected something along the lines of "Barb Wire", but no, it's not that either. The story is silly and pretentious (shut your mouth, wise old Indian narrator!), and the action scenes (the whole two of them) are poor, with mistimed sound effects. Carmen Electra is a hot woman, no doubt about that, but it's painful to watch her trying to act, though not as painful as it is to watch her male co-stars! (and yes, anyone with an IQ higher than that of the characters can see that she used a body double for the nude scenes). At least Debra Xavier has some fun with her role as the wicked bad girl. At one point, Carmen's boyfriend tells her "I can help you" and she responds "You ain't tough enough, baby". THAT'S the attitude this film needed to have all the way. (*)

Watching this film can imperil the very existence of mankind.
freydis-e8 April 2019
I bought a used DVD for a few pence and had no idea what I was getting. After watching I'm still not much the wiser. It was deeply terrible in the usual ways: no story, nothing made sense, useless camera-work, unconvincing action scenes, and you'll see better acting on a porno webcam. And no effects of any kind. I get that there was no budget. I just don't get what they were trying to do with the little they had.

So an opening spiel (the best part of the film) tells us that evil has arisen, so terrible that 'mankind's very existence is imperilled'. We open with Emma Braveknight (seriously) the chosen hero, retrieving the Sacred Crescent, an object of unimaginable power, to use in 'the ultimate battle against evil'. The fact that she's a willowy, big-haired, big-breasted, blonde and has gone out to dig holes in the woods wearing a diaphanous negligee over a bikini, should have given me a clue. A normally dressed, normal looking man (he turns out just that, a hillbilly type) shows up and starts pawing her. She doesn't seem to be enjoying this much and, though the guy is not exactly imperilling mankind's existence, it's evil of a kind, so I'm not sure why she doesn't use her crescent to 'battle' him. Instead she breaks loose, runs away, hides it again, falls headlong damsel style, and lies at the guy's feet, whimpering, 'I don't have the crescent.' (Hmm, I like my chosen ones a teensy bit tougher than this.) Opening credits follow and we then learn Emma is dead (presumably raped and murdered). Shortly after this we meet the nearest there is to a male lead. Sheriff Henry drags his girlfriend (a regular woman with no super-powers) out of a bar so she won't get too drunk and she promptly beats him senseless, leaving him bloodied and helpless at her feet. (Hmm, I like my sheriffs a bit tougher than this too.) Then the hillbilly guy shows up again and urinates over him.

I just don't get it. With silly nonsense like this I can only imagine it's meant to be some kind of soft-porn comedy. But was any of that meant to be funny? This film never is, and there aren't that many places where it seems to be even trying for humour. There is nudity, but not that much and a couple of sex scenes. No thrills at all though - there's nothing here to imperil anything much, let alone mankind, but you may imperil your patience by watching it.

So awesomely bad that it achieves awesome cult status. Brings back a lot of memories when times were cinema and so was cinema. Lol. Why on earth was there never a sequel to this movie? It is definitely unforgettable if you ever get a chance to watch this movie.

Terrible But funny
dregj10 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Although this film is a sub standard super hero movie/porno

I found i quite liked it. It is so unself-consciously terrible it is able to transcend its terrible script/plot/acting and become a great comedy.

Don't expect Shakespeare, do expect to laugh at the movie rather than with it. Carmen electra's costume at the end is the crowning glory of this silly movie . A S&M astronaut stripper ,awsome.

The sex scenes mostly seem to involve milk?? don't ask and are not actively offensive , a great night in with pizza and beer movie

Your sides will split

oh the hilarity

Reaches new cinematic lows
Leofwine_draca18 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
THE CHOSEN ONE: LEGEND OF THE RAVEN is a straight-to-video independent film that reaches new lows in terms of amateurish behaviour. The story is about some kind of Native American legend that sees a mysterious figure, the Raven, brought to Earth to right wrongs and punish misdeeds. Said Raven comes in the form of the shapely Carmen Electra, she of the voluptuous figure and no discernible acting ability.

This is truly pitiful stuff with barely any kind of a story to drive it forward. The acting is really, really bad, with Electra particularly awful. Wait until you see some of the superhero costumes she wears. The rest of the cast make no impact whatsoever, and the film just sort of ambles along, throwing in regular sex sessions in which Electra's body double gets a regular workout. It's cheap, nasty, boring, and an obvious gender-twist rip-off of THE CROW. Avoid like the plague.

Honestly, the worst movie I've ever seen.
teri7014 July 1999
I can't say that I liked this movie, I didn't even understand it! It was the worst movie I've ever seen. Besides the obvious lack of thought in casting (the sister, supposedly a Native American, is a blond-haired, blue-eyed chick), severe lack of acting ability, and the schroom-induced thing that was supposed to be a plot, the thing still didn't muster enough camp to be even funny. Oh, can't finish without mentioning the costumes, what was that about? It looked like they raided a closet full of '80's clothes that people in the '80's wouldn't even wear. Even if you are IN LOVE with Carmen, it won't make you like this.

A pretty bland attempt
mattymatt4ever3 March 2003
If you're not familiar with Troma films, you may be totally thrown off by this offbeat film. Now I'm no Troma fanatic, but I've always been slightly fascinated by Troma in the same way a passing driver is fascinated by someone getting shot on the freeway. As far as the Troma films go, the worse the better. These are the people who brought you the "Toxic Avenger" and "Class of Nuke 'Em High" movies. But I figured I'd buy the DVD since even if I totally hate the film, at least I'd get to see Carmen Electra get naked. Well, she does get naked, though not as much as I'd prefer. But the scene where she pours milk all over her body is very worthwhile, and there's some great close-ups of her big, firm boobs. There's also many great shots of that firm, bubble-butt ass of hers. Not to mention close-ups of her beautiful face. But for a Troma flick, this is like "Citizen Kane"--not "Citizen Toxie." I mean, the film actually has a plot, as well as attempts at creating dramatic tension. And the acting really isn't bad at all! The actors actually sound like they remembered their lines and aren't reading off a teleprompter. Is this Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz's way of showing they have depth? I don't recall any gross-out effects and other than Carmen's two nude scenes, no gratuitous shots of naked (often fake) boobs. There's even a shot where a woman is entering a shower and her back is turned the camera as she unclasps her bra. Then we cut away. Just when did a Troma film ever spare a boob shot? But overall, it's a pretty bland film. It tries to make a serious film out of a goofy premise. About the only Troma trademarks I found were the two dumb rednecks. Those are definite Troma characters! As I said, I don't always appreciate the Troma films, even when they don't try to be tasteful and try to be as taste-LESS as can be, but there's no use trying to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. Go for tasteless next time! And more naked boobs! That's what Troma's all about!

By the way, if you are gonna buy the film, please get it on DVD. It has some absolutely great features, including many gratuitous clips of naked Tromettes--which compensates for the lack of them in this movie.

My score: 5 (out of 10)

So stupid movie
vincentga26 November 2005
Oh my God ! How it's possible to create a so idiot "movie". But the good side I think, it is a movie to show to people who want create one tell them to never make a thing like that. Story have no sense, music is ugly, and they are any actors/actress inside. The offline is so idiot.

It's pity to see that Carmen Electra use a stand-in just for naked scene. Why not use stand-in for act too? It's clear the only thing this girl have is a nice face (well with make-up all is possible)

This movie is a good example that in our wonderful capitalist world, "be beautiful" is the more important thing after to be rich. Shauna Sand Lamas is a joke too. I find funny that two main guys ("actors" Conrad Bachmann and Tim Bagley) and two girls ("actress" Shauna Sand Lamas and Carmen Electra) have practically same body.

If you like nice face you will love this "movie".

But if for you a movie is not a "face", never buy or rent this c..p.

And to "listen" this so bad things, you need to be a lot courageous. I prefer to advice you.

not as bad as it looks
Spazman4 January 1999
I disagree with himikey. Any film that has Shauna Sands running has my vote. This is not a great piece of film, but it is better than some of Troma's previous work. If you like Carmen or Shauna then see it.

Very disappointing
headhunter4613 May 2004
This film was lame. I didn't visit IMDB for reviews, I just rented it to see Carmen and Shauna. They are both very lovely ladies but they could not save this film by themselves. The acting was worse than what I saw in a high school play. The plot didn't seem to have any guidance. The only thing this has going for it is the gorgeous ladies. There was some feeble attempt to make this seem like a movie about a Native American legend. Sorry folks, it doesn't wash. Carmen Electra does not appear to be even slightly Native American. The goofy, dumb redneck types are slightly believable, and in a sad way almost humorous. I am sure there are better ways to spend your time than to watch this one unless you are absolutely smitten by Carmen or Shauna Sand or Debra Xavier. I rate this as 1/10

CARMEN LOOKS GOOD!!!
hubbard24 July 2000
The only reason you should see this movie is Carmen Electra. The acting is horrible, the story is nonexistent, the fight scenes are fake and so are the boobs but i am not complaining! Fast forward through the dialogue and watch the only reasons i rented this movie. In closing, this movie is only good for a laugh and one of the only movies with Carmen exposed ever.

Trades mainly on the sexual attraction
oscar-3512 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
*Spoiler/plot- 1998, The Chosen One- Legend of Raven, An native American shaman woman is killed and her sister is unwilling to take up her sister's tribal position as a protector-priestess. She reluctantly accepts the spirit job. SHe eventually has to fight her boyfriend's over bearing ex-girlfriend that is possessed by an opposing demonic Indian spirit.

*Special Stars- Carmen Electra stars as lead role, Raven.

*Theme- The natural force of good will always conquer evil demons.

*Based on- Native American legends.

*Trivia/location/goofs- A semi-nude scene of Electra drenched in milk is something to view. This is a TROMA film. It has plenty of sex and guts, but not necessary the best story or acting on celluloid. Some female nudity.

*Emotion- A superficial script that trades mainly on the sexual attraction of the lovely Ms. Electra. Her acting is mostly unwatchable, due to the viewer expecting her to laugh out loud after delivering her asinine dialog badly. But the many semi-nude scenes of her possessed by her good Indian spirit during combat and sex is engrossing to any male viewer.

Carmen Electra is wasted
Michael_Pilkington12 March 1999
First, I just want to say that Carmen Electra is very beautiful (in or out of costume), but her acting talents are wasted in this long and boring Troma flick. Did she really give up TV's Baywatch for this crap? There's really no action until the last ten minutes of the film, but by then you may have bailed out. If you're interested, there's at least five sex scenes -- three of them with Ms. Electra. If you really want to see Carmen Electra naked, check out some web sites or buy a pin-up poster. Enough said. My evaluation: (no stars).
