a vengos favorite!
aristofanis18 January 2005
This is my favorite Vengos movie. This is the moment Vengos has reached a certain stylization in his performance without seeming to merely imitate himself. A janitor is trying to set up his six sisters and his aunt before he gets married to his beloved one who's brother's task is to have her married the soonest! While the film mocks the irrationality of traditional customs (sisters have to get married first)the main theme of Vengos devising all sorts of ways to earn his living and that of all others, remains. Although Vengos is funny just to watch, the one liners in this one are amazing and unfortunately very hard to translate to other languages (vast use of idioms, rhymes etc.) I've seen this a dozen times and can see it another dozen easily.

Vengos at his best just before Thou Vou!

Thanasis Vengos plays a "janitor" in an apartment building. He has 6 sisters and an aunt to care for so he does everything he can to save money. He establishes a small grocery store in his desk, carries a fat woman up on the 6th floor claiming the elevator is broken so he can get a tip etc. And apart from his sisters and aunt he has to get married too. So he is running like mad too catch everything up hence the title Papa-trehas (treho=run).

Vengos does his own stunts again including hanging from the roof of the building! All in all a great movie with great jokes and situations!

I recommend it to everyone!

A family-favorite Greek comedy
tainiomanis5 May 2007
The all-time running janitor, is in haste to have his six sisters settled through marriage. These are the great cook with the sweet voice and ugly face, the seamstress who speaks ceaselessly, the beautiful yet dump blond, the dancing fan,the pious and reserved one,and the educated of the family. Also, the aunt who spent her youth to raise the seven orphaned siblings demands that Polydoros should find her a groom,as well. This is not an easy task, but Polydoros has no choice, because his girlfriend, in turn, must be married ASAP so that her nine brothers will be then free to get married.Aunt Elpa from the States keeps promising she will help them with her money. In the meanwhile, Polydoros has to cope with suicide attempts, eccentric tenants, house maintenance accidents, hysterical crises, and huge expenses.
