I'd like to get my hands on the man who invented kids...

Warning: Spoilers
So that's the basic philosophy of Hugh "Picklepuss" Herbert the neighborhood grouch whom everybody knows hates kids and treats him mercislesslly for that. But his wife Esther Howard has a surprise, and for some reason, he thinks that she's expecting. For some reason though he acts completely opposite of what you think he would act like, treating her with tender gloves and spoiling her rotten. "Here's how!" his equally cranky boss says, to which Hugh retorts, "I know how" which I'm surprised got by the censors. There are some very funny moments in this short, especially surrounding the fact that he is obviously wrong about his wife's condition, and when Howard goes to the hospital with a real mother to be, Herbert has a hysterical reaction, telling the shocked woman next door that he's the father. The issue with the short is that it builds up the fact that Herbert hates children then he dashes for the next 15 minutes about being a father to be. Herbert as always is not everybody's cup of tea, but there are some funny moments throughout including an ironic conclusion.
