BALKAN RUNNER is another Z-grade Italian action thriller from the 1990s, made with a nobody cast and a down-on-his-luck director. The budget must have been minuscule, that's all I can say. The protagonist is a widow who attends her military husband's funeral at the outset before heading off to the Middle East to tackle the femme fatale responsible for his death. She refuses to wear a bra throughout, leading to lots of low grade titillation. The heart throb hero strips to his waist for one lengthy homoerotic scene of interrogation. Things conclude with a routine action scene with the obligatory helicopter familiar from Italian action cinema.
