I grew up with some of Zinca's novels,I knew several of them by heart, and I can testify Omul In Loden (1979) has something of their atmosphere. They are paranoid thrillers about foreign threats and espionage, and they resemble some movies from the '30s and the '40s.Quite xenophobic and _germanophobic,Zinca's prose speaks about conspiracies, treason, violent deaths,killings,etc..In Omul In Loden (1979) ,the story, about which I'll speak in the following,is beautifully acted by a handful of first-hand actors that give _praisable performances. Some scenes could be made better, but others are honorable.Aside from a few bits of crap lines exchanged by the characters, the movie is indeed thrilling and not at all boring. The narration displays a welcome sobriety;a few Expressionistic frames bring the shock value.

Yet of course one should not elude or pass under silence the other side—the fact that such films were propaganda tools, and that they testify to a primitive and vulgar conception."Omul ..." works if you are ready to accept its compromises and limitations. As a cinematographic achievement ,it is humble and unpretentious; if you're interested in H. Zincã,it is worth seeing.
