Ok to watch...but on video only
sutcal21 July 2000
This movie has some interesting twists, but ultimately is predicatble as to the outcome. It has all the hallmarks of a Mary Higgins Clark mystery novel in the the heroine in this movie solves the case and bags the baddie. There is also the obligatory "cop love interest" who seems to be likeable but totally inept as a detective...This sounds too familiar with many movies I have seen.

It's a tv movie, with no major stars...so you can't expect a big budget thriller...It was too predicatble for my liking but watchable nonetheless.

Give it a go and form your own view.

Strong cast, weak film

Watching "when danger follows you home", I felt that there was a very strong team of actors, delivering high emotion with their characters emotions and reacting very spontaneously within conversations. (Excepting one part where there seems to be a pause in conversation as JoBeth Williams waits for her pager to bleep.)I was especially impressed by the performance of Gogol (Michael Manasseri) acting a mentally disturbed patient. Apart from the acting though, I felt the storyline was mediocre, and not gripping enough to maintain suspense, especially with the murderer being too obvious from the onset. I felt the music score was not subtle enough, as I was constantly aware of it, and seemed very corny.

All in all, I wouldn't specifically advise people either way on whether to watch the film, but I did get an entertainment value out of it

Where do superior movies, such as this, get to?
Castor-1124 November 1999
I assumed that the fact that I'd never heard of this movie, despite it having been made two years ago, betokened that it was the usual foisted on us by the networks.

"Ah,well..." I reasoned "It stars JoBeth Williams, so it can't be all bad" Indeed, it proved to have more than the charming Ms Williams going for it, excellent as she was, as an attractive character, with believable lines to speak, and, which, utimately has her (or her body double) performing interesting gymnastics.

If you like intelligent thrillers that entertain for two full hours, avoid the usual cliches, have you wondering what happens next, and how it will all end, then this movie's for you!

Richard Winchester Genius. A.K.A. Gogol

Another TV midnight movie that I enjoyed. It had likable characters and horrible characters. On one level, it was every day stuff, about a mother trying to deal with the after effects of a poor marriage, and subsequent divorce. (She was well rid of George). As well as having a few bad hair days with her boss, at the psycho unit. Then it was about another family that was being destroyed, as a result of mental illness, suicide, and remarriage. Then it was about a lovely person, Gogol, a computer genius, and his involvement with the intelligence agencies. The intern and the cop give us the love interest, albeit from a distance. I just felt that some of the family scenes could have been dropped, to allow a bit more time for the ending, which seemed to be over too quickly. But with three story lines, and enough suspense to keep you interested, you should give it a watch. JoBeth Williams, the working man's Susan Sarandon, looks terrific as usual.
