Conner strikes again Warning: Spoilers
This is the music video for the song "Mongoloid" by Devo and the director who made this was American experimental filmmaker Bruce Conner. At around 200 seconds, it is certainly one of his shortest works, but this does not have a negative impact on the quality at all. On the contrary, actually. In the late 1970s, color was already really common, so taking the black-and-white route here was obviously a creative choice. In terms of the action we see it is not really too memorable, but that is fine as the song we hear is pretty catchy, even if it very simple. I recommend the watch and listen for this one here. It's a shame to see Conner lived for such a long time still after this movie, but was nowhere near in terms of quantity. he did not make very many new films anymore after 1980s. So watch this one instead. Thumbs up.

Exceptional montage of b&w film clips set to Devo tune.
mkw-26 November 1998
Bruce Conner is the father of music videos. Long before MTV he was editing historical stock footage, usually filmed in the fifties, and setting them to music. Mongoloid is a prime example of this, in which various black and white film clips containing anything from educational films to old commercials are spliced together and set to the old Devo song, Mongoloid.
