Study of prostitution is all over the place
lor_6 June 2011
Rik Taziner is a porn auteur who baffles me. He sometimes hits a home run (TEENAGE DESIRE) but often is guilty of mindless slop (e.g., WINTER OF 1849). TEENAGE MADAM falls somewhere in between these two poles, entertaining due to its impressive cast.

Desiree West has a good role for a change, as madam of a brothel. (The VCX reissue spells the title "MADAME" just to confuse matters). Structure is that of a loop carrier, but with generally newly-shot footage, as sexologist prof Dr. Gonad (Jack Wright) visits West's abode and interviews her and her girls as part of his "survey for higher sex education seminars".

West begins with a verbal impression of Mae West (!), but fortunately drops this gag in favor of what she does best later in the film, in the sack. First few scenes have a red-headed actress who looks like Spring Finlay (and is confusingly billed as Ricky Kaufman on the videos I watched, but "Vicky Kaufman" in IMDb) playing Rusty, who takes Dr. Gonad on a tour, with each door revealing a snippet of a loop depicting clients having bizarre sex acts.

In one room, John Seeman (billed as Jay Seemon) is recognizable behind a masochist's leather mask by virtue of his trademark receding hairline, getting whipped by two dominatrices in corsets. Weirdist guy is being verbally abused by a girl straddling over him, giving him a hand job as he voices over his most-desired fetish, to have a woman's menstrual blood all over his cock (woe is me, I suffered through a Bob Kirk film actually enacting such a disgusting scene, titled METER-MADES).

Desiree's story involves her start in the business, initiated into prostitution by none other than John Holmes. He teaches her the ropes, and while she is afraid he'll urinate in his mouth (fortunately this is not that sort of movie), she accedes to serving him, resulting in two money shots, the first faked, the second for real and copious.

New arrival to the brothel Kathy (Kathy Marsh) tells of being abused by her step-dad at age 13. We get to see the violent rape by a guy from the Zebedy Colt school of porn -it's fairly distasteful with step-daddy's verbal mantra being "the younger the better, baby".

After many highway cutaway insert shots that look like out-takes from Taziner's CHERRY TRUCKERS, a trucker named Frank (Bill "Head" Clover) indeed arrives to have sex with Charlene (Bonnie Holiday). Another girl helps out, and he turns out to be a submissive, whipped by the girls, and then forced to lick up his own ejaculation. This guy seems to be doing a Steve Zahn impression long before Zahn's career began.

Paul Thomas, wearing a horrendous plaid '70s suit, is the next john; VCX edition proudly proclaims him to be the film's director but it was 10 years before he moved behind the camera. He's been seeing Rusty for a year and proposes marriage to her, slipping an engagement ring on her finger. His reward is a sensual blow job.

They announce their impending marriage to the company assembled downstairs, John Holmes suddenly arrives and an orgy breaks out. Taziner gives us a final kink, as Frank complains that two girls can't turn him on, announcing "I'll show you how it's done", so he gets on his back, gives himself a blow job and ejaculates all over his own face. Certainly a neat party trick that explains why this 1-shot actor is nicknamed "Head".

Film ends with Dr. Gonad also ejaculating, and promising to return soon (usual sequel-itis) to "collect more data". Yeah, right.

Film runs 68 minutes in the nice VCX print, while another high-quality print was used for Vol. 127 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theatre series. For no apparent reason, the SWV DVD-R runs only 55 minutes, with trims in each sex scene and a very bad jump-cut that eliminates P.T.'s proposal (and engagement ring presentation to Rusty), jumping into the orgy without even showing Holmes' return. Eight minutes are cut from the orgy, which does run overlong in the first place, but the "Head" giving himself head footage is retained.

The worst John Holmes film I've ever seen
movieman_kev8 November 2005
A psychologist accepts an offer from a a Madam of a local brothel to come over and interview her prostitutes about their first sexual experiences. You don't hear about this forgotten film when people talk of classic adult movies do you? Well there's a reason for that as the film is horribly disjointed. A "porn comedy" that is successful at neither. Even the legendary John Holmes is horribly wasted in this unerotic, unfufilling and unneeded movie. Perhaps among the worst from the "golden age" of porn that I've ever seen. Do yourself a favor and do something more productive with your time.

My Grade: F
