The annual Mystery Science Theater 3000 Turkey Day marathon makes its return on Thanksgiving!
Ever since debuting on a local Uhf station one November night in 1988, Mystery Science Theater 3000 has always been connected to Thanksgiving. It makes enough sense. The show is about a man and his two robot friends having to sit back and watch whatever for a few hours while Thanksgiving is about being stuck with your family and being so full of food that all you can do is sit back and watch whatever with them. Well, there’s always been the viable option of spending that time watching classic MST3K episodes.
When is the MST3K Turkey Day Marathon?
The MST3K Turkey Day Marathon has long been a staple of the show's existence, even (perhaps especially) during the show’s lengthy hiatus. Now we’re heading for yet another round as the...

Before we bid the month of April farewell, we still have one final batch of Blu-ray and DVD releases coming our way this Tuesday to look forward to. Scream Factory is set to release a double dose of classic horror with The Brain and Tarantula, and Vinegar Syndrome is keeping busy with their terror-inducing trio of titles: The Corruption of Chris Miller, Grandmother’s House, and Darkroom.
Kino Lorber is also giving Hannibal (2001) the 4K treatment this week, and if you happened to miss them during their limited releases, both The Hole in the Ground and Level 16 are very much worth your time.
Other Blu-ray and DVD releases for April 30th include City of the Vampires, Deadly Crush, Emanuelle and Francoise, Death Warmed Up, and Motel Mist.
The Brain
Imagine a pulsating mass of gray matter, expanding in size and strength as it takes control of human minds and devours human bodies.

MST3K season 12 scales back in various ways, but delivers a strong set of six episodes on Netflix.
Movies
When Mystery Science Theater 3000 returned for its eleventh season, they had big shoes to fill. While the series has evolved over the decades, prior change only happened in pieces. When Mike Nelson replaced Joel Hodgson as MST3K host, everything else remained the same. With the jump from Comedy Central to the Sci-Fi Channel, it still just boiled down to losing Trace Beaulieu and having to cover for it. The eleventh season, on the other hand, was a total changeover. New host, new voices for the robots, new antagonists, new set, newer everything.
They did pretty damn well. The fourteen-episode season was well-received overall, even if it had some growing pains. The biggest issue was that the jokes were too rapid-fire and felt unnatural. Lines weren’t given time to breathe...

Usually it’s a lot easier and quicker for me to review films one by one but I thought for this release from Vinegar Syndrome, it’s only right to review the release as a whole.
