Not everyone thrives in your typical industry-networking type environment. This can be particularly true of introverted right-brained creatives: there you’ll be, just awkwardly standing there against the wall in the chain hotel lobby bar during the mixer, your adhesive name tag clinging to the fibrous tendrils of your cardigan as you spend four hours maniacally nursing the same club soda on the rocks. Sometimes, a little structure and formality can sweep out the cobwebs of social anxiety and help clear the way for you to fully express your storytelling ideas and precognition of their eventual triumph.

In Oprah Winfrey’s newest television special Shame, Blame, and the Weight Loss Revolution, the celebrated television host tells the crowd that when she got over the excitement of first appearing on the cover of TV Guide, she noticed a demeaning headline referencing her weight. “Bumpy, lumpy, and downright dumpy,” the magazine read. That sentiment would be echoed in the hateful and rude treatment, Winfrey said, that has followed her throughout her career.
“I took on the shame that the world gave to me,” Winfrey, 70, said in her newest special.

Have you ever showed up to speed dating only to find the opposite side of the barcade banquette occupied by a Puritan it-girl, Chicano art collective or trans-femme disco-dancing granny? For that matter, has your scorecard of prospective singles ever included A24? Hulu? ABC News? If not, then you’ve never been on the floor to pitch your latest film project at Film Independent Fast Track.

There is hope for Std patients as a new gonorrhea vaccine has been approved for fast-track review by the Food and Drug Administration (Fda).
The experimental Neisseria gonorrhoeae investigational vaccine (NgG), developed by British pharmaceutical company Gsk plc, will be the first of its kind as the sexually transmitted disease (Std) has never had any preventive measures against it.
“We welcome the Fda’s decision to grant Fast Track designation for our new vaccine candidate against Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection,” said Phil Dormitzer, who is the Global Head of Vaccines R&d at Gsk. “With a high and growing incidence, gonorrhea is a major concern for sexual and reproductive health around the globe.”
“This designation recognizes the potential for a vaccine that could help protect millions of people across the world against the serious health consequences of infection with a bacterium that is considered a ‘high priority’ pathogen by the World Health Organization,...
