ONE OF THE BEST PUERTO RICAN PRODUCTIONS
davidbracer14 June 2004
La Gran Fiesta, " The Great Party", The Great Ball" or " The last Dance" , is one of the best Puerto Rican productions. It was Puerto Rico's candidate to the Oscars in 1985. It has great color, great photography, great music and a great historical script. This is one of my favorite Puerto Rican movies. It is very difficult to find it. Do any of you know where I can find a copy of it. This is a great movie. In this movie you can find some mysteries of the Puerto Rican dilemma, politics and culture. It contains an excellent representation of the struggle of Puerto Rico between two cultures, the Spaniard and the American. A VERY INTERESTING MOVIE! As far as I know the movie was last years showed in a cinema festival in Chile.

Accurate rendering of life in Puerto Rico in the 1940's.

I grew up in Puerto Rico at the time depicted in the movie. I was in my late teens and early 20's just about the age of Mr. Julia in the movie. I was in the same social circle as shown in the movie and can state that the customs shown are very accurate. Every time I see the movie I remember the happy days of my youth.
