The gorgeous lakes of the Yukon territory are rife with crime as mountie Rod Webb (Kirby Grant) I wouldn't bet on that investigate a murder, aiding young Martha Hyer, the niece of the victim, and becoming reacquainted with gambling establishment owner Frances Charles, a dour dark lady whose hurts have made her bitter to the point of never cracking a smile. There's also a scam involving fraudulent samples from a mine, creating a lot of action for Webb and loyal Wonder dog Chinook to sink their teeth into.
Somewhere in between "Trails of the Yukon" and this film, Grant's character has once again changed his name, going from Bob to rod and McDonald to Webb. Nothing much else has changed as the conflicts are slightly different, but the bad guys seem oh so familiar and the ladies feisty and strong in dealing with situations in the wild. An unbilled Iris Adrian, who provided wisecracks but not much else in "Trail of the Yukon", gets to do a musical number in this which appears to be an outtake from that film from 3 years before. It's innocuous fun that will keep you entertained for an hour but you will have forgotten 15 minutes afterwards.
